I have very firm personal experience with panic attacks, a classic psychosomatic disease. And there is no question that the symptoms are real. Let's face it, if your are sitting still and your body is pouring out massive amounts of adrenaline, you feel horrific. And the danger is the symptoms can worsen and develop into serious problems. A heart rate of 180 while sitting in a chair is not good for anyone. Anxiety disorder is dangerous in a lot of ways. I would NEVER propose ignoring any mental illness. I've had my share and have family with enough. I mean even the insurance companies know how dangerous it is. Try getting life insurance with a history of mental illness. Hopeless really. Your life expectancy is not good. I have read some secondary articles attempting to figure out the magnetic sense in humans. Given that we know that birds can navigate by the earth's magnetic fields and get messed up by high tension wires, it's not a huge leap to figure out that humans may have that capacity. From an engineering perspective, the large changes to the magnetic fields caused by electricity may very well mess up someone's sense of direction. And that could cause types of phobia related to feeling disoriented. Now, I have no knowledge of any solid science for the biological part. But it's basic physics that you can't use a compass underneath a high tension wire and expect to get decent readings. It's an interesting topic. -------------------- Read the FAQ before you post!

Yeah, well neither me or herself are 100% cocksure about it. But we tried to get help for her for more than 1.5 years with no success whatsoever. If some doctor had helped her sort it out whether psychological or physical, things might have been different, but that never happened. So when this turned out to work, she rolled with it. She seems happy enough, happier than ever to be honest. But I miss her a lot, especially working together. -------------------- This sentence is a logical fallacy.

Well all I'm saying is illness caused by EMF/EMR from appliances, power lines etc is basically met with eye rolling from experts. In fact I read a pretty good book on that connection and other sham science recently, authored by this guy, robert l park:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_L._Park But like I said, when you're ill you have to do what's best for you even if it isn't scientific. -------------------- |
