Oh yeah that one smile.gif We got subs for you. IIRC, we had to get a couple. Muse refused to die smile.gif We had to play it right to the end. It was dom kill but I also had a lot of fighting versus Muse. The others were too late to realize the trouble and when they finally ganged up on me I was too powerful. 100% forts basically when I started the dom push.

Howdy folks. I'm a new dom3 player who is just getting into multiplayer, and I love it so far. I'm just bouncing around the various Dom3 boards (I started at Grogheads, which I think is a new little community, and then went to Desura).

It's a fun group of guys. I've enjoyed those games the most so far, but it's very casual and the turns are pretty slow.

Well, byrd... a friend of mine once said:

"Isn't about the games, but about the player. Hardcore is how you play, casual is how often you play."

If you play Dominions day and night (as I will do, during my vacations), you are not casual. If you play just for messing around, you are not hardcore.

Games are not hardcore, neither casual. Gamers, by the other hand, are.

The new Grogheads Dominions community seems like it could become a really good place to play Dom3 games. And it'll be great if it does start to flourish. As the more Dom3 players there are the better smile.gif

I've by no means read every thread post there, although from what I have seen and read I am more than a little concerned about all the misinformation being posted over there sad.gif So as nice and friendly as the community is, if you want any questions answered about the game then I'd recommend asking them somewhere reliable to avoid being confused with misinformation (so ask either here or on Desura).

The differeence between hardcore and casual games has always been the level of commitment required. In a roguelike you must be ever vigilant of danger or risk losing many hours of progress. Most roguelike wins are completed over the course of several days, weeks, or months. More casual games (like any random browser game) you can finish in a single sitting.

While you can casually play a game of Dominions, but that's not the same as Dominions being a casual game. This is just the limitation of our language. Player attitude and commitment is different than what a game encourages or requires to reach success/completion. Dominions is still a hardcore game no matter how lax the turn requirements are or how often you play.

Define hardcore however you want. It's slang anyways. Either way Dominions 3 is a complex and difficult game.

But in terms of a multiplayer game of Dominions, we here have a clear policy that games state the level of commitment expected. So "a game" of dominions here will state if you are expected to commit or not.
