Thought I'd make a thread as one does not exist yet.

Post maps you like here. I'll start with Elmokki's maps.

Elmokki's maps

Sixlands is fun. (How's that new version coming along vfb?)

I am also partial to Inland, an old Dom2 map, but can't seem to find it. Anyone have it?

Many Dom2 maps can be loaded directly into Dom3, can't they? Those not defining anything beyond terrain, names and neighbors definitely can.

My Dom2 folder contains 4 maps I don't have in Dom3, that's "Britt" (maybe a modder's map?), "Inland", "Returgaia" and "Sundering", plus some scenarios based around these maps. I can upload them somewhere if someone wants to take a look.

Excellent, Inland, please! (Can't remember the others, which probably means they aren't that good ;) ) My impression is that it's not that much of a bother to fix Dom2 maps for use in Dom3, although I am presently unaware of the details. There are some new terrains that can be implemented in any case.

Here they are:

I tried a new dom3 game on one of these maps (sundering, i think) and it started fine.

Did anyone get that download before it vanished?

I would like to track down those maps.

Remove the alpha channel and you're good. Dom2 ignored the alpha channel of the image, Dom3 doesn't.

What is missing about maps now (imho) - is some _systematic_ collection of links.
I'd underline the world "systematic". Not "what are the maps you like?" or some general "what is a map to play"?
"Systematic" is a core word here.

Some listing of proper (/decent/widely used) maps is needed with opportunity to sort by:
* possible amount(s) of players for this map;
* some main properties (wrappable or not;
* fixed starts version available or not;
* ?

For each version of the map should be a link on appropriate location. Whether this map is available on llamaserver - there should be description how to find that map there (without reading whole llamaserver's list from the beginning to the end).

If one asks about good map and receives an answer "MapName is a good map to play", one often needs to realize all versions of the maps, their differences, find maps uploaded on llamaserver, etc etc.
Lack of systematic overview of decent maps seems to be a certain hindrance for new players to find maps, and for players in a whole to reuse good maps. It also causes different people to repeat the same work over and over again.

Personally I lack knowledge and experience to provide any proper coverage, but what I did for myself was
(listing for a duel/small maps) for http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index....0#entry22023174
I'd improve my own list in the future when I'll need to find/search for a map, but it won't be soon.
And I'm not sure whether my own necessities (which caused me to make it) have some general application.

All in all - if someone has better/more wide _systematic_ list - I would be glad to see it.
