factions

These are NOT set in stone. Feel free to be creative with your character and establish whatever background you see fit and toss them into whatever category you think best. Remember, no faction is restricted to any particular camp.

rebuilders

Rebuilders are those citizens that were injected with D-17Z and blessed with immunity from the sickness. They were singled out by the government because they were deemed important. These are the people that would have ultimately been in charge of restoring humanity when the time came after emergence; chosen to help revive the surface. Among the Rebuilders one would find Scientists, Professors, Doctors, Architects, Artists and Construction Engineers..basically anyone that would be an asset to building a new society.

resistance

Just like the Rebuilders, each member of the Resistance was injected with D17Z, and chosen with a collective purpose in mind. Unlike the Rebuilders, the Resistance is 100% disposable. Their only true job, according to those in charge, is/was to keep the Rebuilders safe. Among the Resistance one would find Military Personnel, National Guard, Emergency Paramedics, Police Officers and select private Security.

renegades

For whatever (usually personal) reason, Renegades weren't vaccinated either way. They avoided their required shot, which spared their lives. Kind of. When society collapsed and cities were destroyed the Renegades had to seek out shelter and forge their way through the damage that was left behind. They are scavengers, warriors and protectors. They won't hesitate to defend what is "theirs". Some of them work solo..or for "the right price". Among the Renegades one will find Conspiracy Theorists, Criminals, Anarchists, Rebels, Military gone AWOL, etc.

refugee

Refugees, for whatever reason, weren't vaccinated either. However, unlike their Renegade counterparts they aren't the types that can easily pick up a gun and shoot someone between the eyes..even if they are about to become a meal for the Infected. Refugees travel in packs, sticking together because "large groups are better and more protected". They willingly accept Renegades into their packs for protection. Among the Refugees one would find..well..just about anyone without the backbone to fire a gun or the knowledge to load one.

response

Response are used among the Refugees and Renegades for dispatched travel. Think of them as scouts or messengers. They move quickly, are light on their feet, have learned stealth and can remain mostly inconspicuous, are knowledgeable in the use of weapons and are rather well versed in the areas of survival and combat. Children can sometimes fall into this category because they can remain undetectable. While older Response members often travel alone, children travel in small groups for safety, or with an older Response member.

officials

Think of Officials as the "Men in Black". These are the men and women that started this whole mess. The Officials holed themselves up in various parts of the country, tucked safely away from the mess they made while civilization collapsed. Their plans were simple. Wait for the Rebuilders and Resistance to emerge and begin their tasks before stepping in and taking over. Most of them have been ordered to shoot to kill anyone that breaks the "law" or starts questioning authority. Individual Officials may have their own personal agendas, such as attempting to seek out and destroy a civilian (which is encouraged, by the way).

the settlements

There are three main settlements dotted across the state of Nevada. They are each run by very different types of people, and that is evident by the type of residents that dwell within them.

camp vegas

Located in and around the Las Vegas bunker, this camp is probably the most secure of the three. However, it is perhaps the most brutal; the motto here is if you don't work you don't eat. With Officials in charge, Camp Vegas runs on a pretty tight shift in order to make sure no one else flees, slacks off, or breaks the rules. Aside from Officials, Rebuilders seem to be the most common faction located here, and as a result are often charged with doing much of the dirty work. Every now and then there will be members of another faction that have discovered the bunker on their own, joining the harsh camp in order to gain a little security.

camp tahoe

Similar to Camp Vegas, Camp Tahoe is well-protected, as it has Lake Tahoe on its south side. Although, it is more community-oriented, keeping strong morals among the residents. Run by an Air Force retiree and his daughter, this settlement is mostly populated by Refugees and Renegades. Everyone here has their own job to do, all relating to what they're best at: fishing, hunting, babysitting, teaching, security- the list goes on. Newcomers are welcomed, but they must be willing to do their fair share of the work.

camp elko

Located in the moderately-sized Elko, this camp's headquarters are in the appropriately-named Gun World and is run by the power-hungry Solomon Sharpe. The man was a former governer and has somehow garnered the support of a large amount of Resistance members. As a result, this camp boasts the highest amount of fire power(Gun World has contributed, obviously), and they will gladly demonstrate if they feel they have been wronged. Many other factions flock here for the sense of security all the weaponry brings, but they are always under the scrutiny of Mr. Sharpe and the ever-so-slightly crooked "policemen" that work under him.

rogues

Predictably, not everyone will immediately find themselves in a camp. If that is the case, one would be considered by others a Rogue. Naturally, Rogues will have characteristics of a certain faction, but since they don't belong to a camp, they are strictly Rogue and nothing else. Of course, if they change their minds and want to have a specific name, they are always welcome to try and join a camp if they ever feel compelled.

response

As stated previously, Response members are a messenger of sorts. They do not belong to any group, but rather, they deliver miscellaneous things(letters, items, etc.) between each settlement or rogue for a certain amount of compensation. This may be shelter, food, or even protection.
