Mankind once stood at pinnacle of life. They had everything: Knowledge, power, and the will to drive forward. But a darkness crept through that golden age, destroying knowledge, consuming power, and bringing the humans of this world to their knees.

Now, only small pockets of civilization survive. Few of the mechanical wonders of the past are here today. The greatest of human cities would only be considered large towns by the standards of 600 years past.

Everyday, people suffer from the reign of terror presented by the fierce beasts and terrible creatures that now roam the lands. Above all are the terrors of the Gods given living form: Amplus Anima. These giant and powerful beings roam the world, ensuring that man can never prosper.

This is the Age of the Gods, where we are driven back from the world. So much of our knowledge has been lost, yet we do not have the strength to gain it back. It is up to the few to win back the strength of the many. We are on a crusade to fight back, to strike down the darkness that has held sway over the planet for generations.

We, the Godslayers.

--------------------------------------

It only just occurred to me that this plot is kinda like Final Fantasy X, but with technology much more sporadically present, and no Yevvon shite (so, no Aeons and Sin and whatnot). But, yeah... Think of the desperation in that game, and that's kinda what's present in the Age of the Gods. I guess... you could say it's a mix between Shadow of the Colossus and FFX.

Anyways...

There are six major cities left to man, spread throughout the world. You can choose to be from any city, but we'll start from a certain one. The cities will just determine character background and whatnot. You can have magic, magic items, or even a rare piece of technology.

There are also seven of the Amplus Anima (or you can just call them the Gods).

--------------------------------------------------

Here are the Cities:

Anchar: The southernmost city on our continent, and the starting point of the Godslayers' quest. People from Anchar are like Medieval Europeans, or the people of Gondor from LOTR, although their stuff doesn't have as much splendor as those guys. Ruled by Council of Elders. (these guys are totally mundane warriors)

Vollaga: An island city bearing some technology, located to the Northwest of Anchar. It is the second of three cities on the starting continent. The people from Vollaga are known to be highly atheist, and they are similar to (man, I am making too many connections to FFX...) the people of Besaid. Governed by elected official. (Most balanced warriors, high weapon proficiency and weak-mid magic)

Quellos: It's location is a closely guarded secret among its people, who believe that secrets are the most powerful force in the world (Of course, it is the third city on our continent). This city is famous for its assassins, as they are trained to fell any manner of beast that may threaten the city and surrounding villages. These guys are reminiscant of the Aztecs, and they have many and varying religious beliefs. Guided by their Great Priest. (Rogues/Assassins/whatever, exotic weapons and weak magic)

Hellwing City: The most technological city in the world, located on a bay of the eastern continent. The people here are all masters of the ocean and most own their own ships. It is rumored that a flying machine was recently invented here. Its people are quite like the pirates of Pirates of the Carribean. This city is governed by monarchy. (High technological prowess, no magic, exotic weapons)

Blödheim: The legendary city of Tribe Ozmungdgand, being the sole city of the Northern continent. Similar to the Norse Vikings. Most of its people are trained warriors, and they wield mighty forms of magic linked to the oaths they swear before or during battle. All females of Blödheim bear angel-like wings. This city is ruled by its most powerful warrior. (Berserkers/mid magic)

Sejjam Mabazz: City of the ancient Nomads. Sejjam Mabazz is a great tower hewn from unknown material that can somehow move when commanded by its people. It's location is generally around the easternmost side of the eastern continent. It is known for its massive and extensive library. Technology and magic are equally strong here. When the city is not in transit, its people gather resources and live in massive tent-like constructs at its base. The people of this city are a lot like the Arabians from the time of Muhammad. The city is governed by a line of Matriarchs. (High magic proficiency)

-------------------------------

And now for the Gods:

Bos: The great Bull, a titan of Stone that traverses the massive plains to the North of Anchar. Embodies the world that houses all life.

The Wulob Naba: A pack of eight gigantic wolves that think with a hive mind. They dwell in the mountain range that reaches from Vollaga to the eastern side of the first continent. They embody fear and doubt.

Zmeq: A tremendous arachnid with a serpent's tail, two pairs of scorpion claws, and venomous barbs on its tail. Around the size of a high-school gymnasium. Lives in the span of forest that houses Quellos, north of the mountains of the Wulob Naba. Embodies nature's ability to overcome human blights (pollution, etc.).

Gigazoa: A multi-limbed aquatic behemoth that plagues the seas between the two continents. Like a mix between a squid and a Box jellyfish. It's huge, plasmic limbs can paralyze any manner of creature even with a small window of contact. It embodies the ancient mysteries of the world.

Drochiore: An albino dragon that dwells at the North Pole. Its kin are many and they have infested the Northern wastes. Possibly the wisest of all the gods. It represents the terrible and beautiful power of the gift of sentience.

Ulmesh: A gargantuan, double-headed eagle whose golden feathers reflect the sun's rays with fierce intensity. Its hide has been known to repel arrows, and it has never been seen roosting. It constantly scours the Eastern Deserts for Sejjam Mabazz, but has only found it once before. It represents man's fascination with the sky and flight.

Alpha: About one-hundred years ago, the Ancient Nomads found a man crawling through their deserts. They were curious, as the man wore the garb of Kelwesine City, the Capital of the Empire of the Southern Islands. When the man could speak again, he told the Nomads that the Empire, which had never been the target of the Six Gods of Old, was decimated in a single night by a seventh God. He told the Nomads that it spoke with man's voice, although all it said was "Alpha." He said it bore the shape of a human, though it was quite large. The man died of a heart attack soon after he described the deity. When the Nomads checked to see if the man's story was true, they found that the Southern Islands were simply gone, as if sunk into the mighty ocean itself. Alpha has not been seen since. It represents evolution, and the power naturally inherent in man.

-----------------------------

Well, we the characters are all meeting in Anchar, called by a summons whose purpose we do not know. Here's a character sheet, if you feel like filling it out:

Name:
City:
Class: (Not really a class, per se. I guess it'd be your profession.)
Magic Skill(s):
Weapon proficiency:
Bio (if you want):

Then, post your character heading into Anchar, I guess. I will wait for you guys to post, 'cause I want to give us a balanced roster. Oh, and I guess I'll be controlling the Amplus Anima and the monster encounters and whatnot.

Name: Claudio Lux, goes simply by his last name however
City: Quellos
Class:World Class Assassin
Magic Skill(s): Minor shapeshifting and can condense magical energy into ammunition
Weapon proficiency: Knives, Poisons, and a long range rifle of old found whilst looting Sejjam Mabazz.
Bio: Now at age 27, Claudio Lux has been murdering for money since he was only 12 years old. Over the many years he has been to every major city in the empire and killed at least one person of importance there. He only accepts bounties that seem fun and challenging. Now he has been hired to take the greatest bounty of all, the gods. All other information about Lux is unknown, including his true appearance.

--------

Lux made his way towards the center of Anchar, surfing his way through the crowds of people, attracting strange looks. Crowds were never Lux's thing, and his attire drew all the more attention to him. Covered completely by a dark gray cloak with a white emblem on the back, Lux's outfit was for the shadows, not a crowded bright street.

Name: Zehira Engel
City: Hellwing
Class: Scientist/Engineer, hobby is history
Magic Skill(s): None, is willing to learn if necessary.
Weapon proficiency: In her research, she found something called a 'handgun'. Using what knowledge she had of similar firearms, she made a rather sloppy version of the weapon. However, when it misfired, she immediately abandoned it and went back to using her knives and swords.
Bio: Zehira was born and raised in Hellwing, and she is absolutely fascinated by the history of the world. From the time she was able to read, she read everything she could, even if the books were missing tons of pages at one time. During her teen years, she became fairly distant from her magic-hating parents; why they hated it, she'd never know, but as a result she preferred the fast-paced technological studies. She grew out of her wild child phase when she hit her twenties and now is an engineer on a ship; however, as a result of the summons she had to walk the whole way to Anchar. She tends to wear knee-length shorts/pants and tanktops under her torn up labcoat, which she takes everywhere with her. Her hair is short and a very pale blond with dyed red tips, and her eyes are hazel.
--

Zehira shifted her pack on her back, grumbling under her breath; why'd she pack all of her things?! It was just downright impractical at worst, completely moronic at best. She needed to smack herself upside the head, that was for sure. She looked around the city, continuing to walk, and she checked the letter. "...now where do I go..." She raised a pale eyebrow, staring at the sheet of paper.

Grumbling, Lux stopped in a large open area in the center of town. Scanning the area around him he was 6 roads heading out. "Damn, I thought it was a straight path." He muttered under his breath. Reaching into his cloak, Lux procured a map of the city. "I guess I go that wa.." Lux's sentence was cut short by a hand pulling the paper from his face.

A large man smoking two cigars stood in front of him grinning. "Well, well, if it isn't Claudio Lux. We've been looking for you Claudio, you're a very wanted man." The man held up a poster showing a picture of Lux from behind. "There is a high price on the head of the man wearing the black cloak. 30 million Extol to be exact." Laughing, the large man whistled calling numerous allies to his side, each person smoking a cigarette or a cigar.

"The Smoker Bounty Hunter Company eh?" Lux smirked, "It seems that I've gained quite a bit of infamy to warrant an encounter from the likes of you." Claudio reached to his back, drawing his rifle and aimed it at the crowd with one hand.

Smoker nearly fell over in laughter, "You plan to fight us with an old piece of tech such as that! HA! I bet it doesn't even fire!"

Lux looked up, throwing his hood back. "Oh really?" A smile crossed Lux's tan face and a gleam appeared in his eyes. Lux squeezed the trigger of the rifle sending a shot echoing through the crowd. One by one the bounty hunters fell, all from one shot.

The bullet continued to swarm around killing each of Smoker's men with ease before it dissipated, only Smoker was left alive. "H...How is that possible?! You fired only one shot!"

Lux laughed, shouldering his gun, "Magic Bullet." He said, walking off towards the town center.

Name: Tenyv Wa'oll
City: Sejjam Mabazz
Class: Spellcaster, scholar
Magic Skill(s): Highly trained in protective magic, moderately skilled with more destructive forms of magic.
Weapon proficiency: Just the spellbooks and other lore he reads.
Bio: A young magician who grew up in the great Library Halls of Sejjam Mabazz. Tenyv is now 18, but his knowledge of history and magic have few equals. His parents died of disease while he was young, and he has grown hesitant towards venturing into the world outside his nomadic home. However, his thirst for knowledge forced him to volunteer for the summons at Anchar, and he believes that great power lies behind anything he may learn when setting off to vanquish the Amplus Anima.

Name: Ardo
City: Anchar
Class: Knight
Magic Skill(s): None
Weapon proficiency: A claymore on his back and a broadsword at his side are the only things that truly keep Ardo assured of success in battle.
Bio: A strong, yet somewhat naive man, Ardo has spent his 30 years of life guarding the city of Anchar, never once setting foot outside its walls. His training as a knight and exemplary swordsmanship cause the Anchar Council to select him as their champion to extinguish the lives of the gods. Ardo distrusts spellcraft and believes honor to be one of the most important things a man can stand behind.

------------------------------------------------------

Ardo's steel-grey eyes scanned the foyer of the council building, still finding no more people who fit the descriptions of the other candidates for the "Godslayers" group. He shifted his weight, feeling his armor twist to accomodate his muscly bulk. Ardo sighed, his enormous black mustache fluttering in front of his face.

Zehira stopped at the door to the council building, taking a deep breath as she stared at the wood. "..Mmnfff." She stuffed the paper in a pocket of her ratty lab coat and shoved the doors open - and landing flat on her face in the process. "Ow." She got up on her elbows, looking around; some of her books and scrolls had flown out of her messenger bag, and her backpack had opened and a ship-in-a-bottle was sticking out. "..man, I always do that." She stood up, fixing her backpack before picking up her papers and books. "Is this the uh." She stared blankly across the foyer at Ardo. "..the 'Godslayers' meeting or something?"
