Awakening Together Retreat - Rideshare, Sept. 19-23, 2007

I will be attending the Awakening Together Retreat from Sept. 19 - 23, 2007 at Deer Park Monastery.

Since I will be flying in, I am hoping to find one or more people to share a shuttle with.
My plane arrives at San Diego International Airport on 9/19 at 11:25 am. Is anybody else arriving around that time? I'll be more than happy to wait a little while if someone comes in later and would like to ride together.

Hello again!

I just would like to give you a quick update.

I called several of the shuttle services to get a quote and information on when best to make a reservation.

Access Shuttle and Xpress Shuttle are the most reasonable services. A trip from the SD airport to Deer Park Monastery would cost $75.00 for four people with Access and $77.00 with Xpress Shuttle.

Both shuttle services suggested we call back sometime between two weeks to two days before our arrival date to make the reservation.

It looks like we have all agreed on 1:15 pm - 1:30 pm.

I too am arriving on the 19th at 11:25 (from Sacramento) and am interested in booking the shuttle to DP as Simone suggested.
My flight on the 23rd doesn't depart until 4:50pm. I'm wondering if others want to book the return shuttle too --?

Hello Everyone -- I would like to share a ride and therefore to catch up with where things are regarding arrangements so far. I am quite willing to rent a car and share with others; or to share a shuttle or someone else's rental car.

I am currently flying in on Wed at 1:20, but may be able to change to 12:35 arrival if necessary to share. I am planning to fly out on Sunday at 3:30, but would be interested in flying out at 2:45 if that were possible given the end of the retreat [lunch starts at 12:30] and people's schedules.

I'd appreciate your writing back.

I'll need to check our arrival time, but a friend and I are flying down from SFO
and will be arriving at around that same time, I'm pretty sure. Sharing a shuttle
seems the way to go. We would not have to drive and could rest and relax and enjoy the ride.

A wonderful good morning!

I would like to apologize to everybody I haven't gotten back to yet about a spot on the shuttle. I am still waiting to hear back from a couple of people, before I know how many spots we have. To follow is a list of the people who are confirmed on the shuttle to Deer Park so far:

There have been two couples who emailed me, but never confirmed. If I haven't heard back by tomorrow 8/11, we can confirm three more people on our shuttle leaving at 1:30 pm.

With regard to the return shuttle: It looks like some people need to be back at the airport fairly early. The shuttle company advised me that the ride in the afternoon from the monastery can take from 1 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. As there will probably be a few more people needing a ride back to the airport than would fit in one shuttle anyway, I suggest we schedule a couple of shuttles. I am willing to reserve a shuttle for people departing late afternoon, early evening.

As of right now, this would be:

Hi sangha friends,
Regarding an early departure from Deer Park on Sunday the 23rd---
I notice that we're asked to stay for the entire retreat, until the end of lunch which is 1:30, and I'm hoping most of us can do that.
Cloud 9 shuttle tells me that a 1:30 departure from DP will get us to the airport in 45 minutes - 1 hour, at $86 total. The time is a little squeezy but doable for a 3:45 departure, and fine for those of us flying out after 4. I'm wondering if there are 3 or 4 others who would be comfortable with this schedule (I'm willing to book it)? Tim, Carol, Monica, others?
