Darbyville Academy
is a school unlike any other. You won't only find lessons in Math or Chemistry here; you'll also find a small community of outcasts, people born or raised with special powers or abilities, that set them apart from the rest of society. People who might be persecuted or humiliated because of their powers.

But in Darbyville Academy they can find a place of solace and learning, where they are taught to control their abilities and intergrate into society.

Of course, the school can't remain a total secret and some 'normal' people don't like the fact that thes students could be part of a 'super army' that could easily knock out any military force currently in operation. There have been attacks on the school, both physically and socially.

However, by and by, the students live happy and normal lives - as normal as they can. At Darbyville Academy it's not unlikely to encounter werewolves, wizards, angels and demons; hence the students nickname: Demon High.

I've seen other people's work here, yes. And most of it sucks, if you ask me, because it just doesn't work.

Tom's is good, because while it might be nice to have more renders, it still screams 'theme'. In a full critique, I'd say that the only real stuff I'd look more for would be the fact that having a monochromatic background and a multichromatic foreground rarely works. I say it's better to put the character's photos un a layer beneath the hue/saturation layer, assuming that's how he does it.

There is definately an exponential progression as well. The first few are just bad, and there's no way around it, but the later ones are actually presentable.

I take that so much to heart, I think I may have to put it on my signature...'Khraese's Best Graphic Artist Award' or something along the like xP

Can you give me any more constructive critisicm? Be as blunt as you want, because I wanna get better...so yeh, rip it xD.

It's about time someone had the courtesy to ask for the gift of critiquery.

I'm really not going to bother with the first few. Frankly, they're two-dimensional and crap. Not really that much to critique over anyways.

The newer ones, though, show potential. They have that feel to them that you get when you see some more modern shows about teenagers (Cheesy? Sure, but it still stands, and in some ways, fits.) I get a lot of that feeling out of the way you manipulate the colors (Which you pulled off well, usually people try and it sucks--and sucks bad.) But it was used at such a size that it doesn't look like a tye-dye accident. Tye Dye is bad unless you're an aging hippy or a drug addict.

Your real strength is definately in avatars. At their size, it has a feels detailed and intricate, without some funky spiral design or something. You used the colors in such a way that it expresses an emotional overtone. This tends to catch people's eyes and hold them there for a while--You know you did a good job if people look at your stuff for a long period of time, this is kind of an indicator of artistic success.

Now as for what could do with some fixing up would be your signatures. They're somewhat random, and don't really seem as exciting. A lot of them are pretty bland. I'd say that the way to fix it would be to work mainly with photo manipulation--Not the kind of ones where you go "Hey, I look like a zombie now", but the kind where you take a photograph and crop it to the right size, and then play with things like brightness/contrast, hue/saturation, maybe a bit of brushing, and some textwork.

I know what your talking about. I have sketchbooks under my bed that, unless I become stupidly famous and people want to auction them off, will never see the light of day.
