Plunk. The name of a terrible, or at best, mediocre middle reliever, or the sound of the bats in the top of the 9th inning last night.

Not too upset we lost last night, but the fact the Phils' almost choked away a 6-run lead in the 8th inning is a good sign of things for the Yanks lineup. Now Game 6 is dependant on Andy Pettitte going on 3-days rest. His age is a concern, but he's a big game pitcher. Who shows up?

Two games for the Phils to win, or one for the Yanks to win. No matter what happens, I'd say this Series has delivered so far.

at least it's gone more than 5 games...this was about the most competitive series we could have hoped for on paper, the teams are pretty even other than bullpen which is NY's. But...Philly has the power of former Kansas City Royal great MATT STAIRS. Regardless, Yankees in 7.

Agreed. It's been a really good series, so far. Every game, even last night's almost-blow-out, was still a nail-biter for me until the final out.

The Rays make their first big moves of the off-season, other than firing Steve Henderson (hitting coach) and not Jim Hickey (pitching coach).

Resigned Gabe Kapler for the 2010 season, and traded away Iwamura to the Pirates for some guy. Can't say I wanted to see Aki go, but we've got Zobrist at second, Reid Brignac if Zobrist falls back to earth, and an abundance of outfielders, so Zobe' can play there as well, so Aki's the odd man out.

Hadn't heard of the Iwamura trade until now. The Bucs really weren't thinking too far ahead when they dealt Freddy Sanchez (gee...what a surprise). Also hurt that they traded their SS at the exact same time. Your double-play ability takes a dive when you trade one regular, but with two it plummets like a loaded turd.

And I thought trades couldn't start until after the World Series? Not complaining, mind you, just curious.

Also thought this site was kinda' neat:
World Series Rings
(If not on this board, I can guarantee you that somebody, somewhere, is including one of those ring pictures on their profile)

I had never seen the Bucs' 1960 ring with Forbes Field on it. That's a cool touch.

The BlueJays' 1993 ring, with its big ol' eye, is ridiculous.

I thought they were fucked after 2004 and would never see the World Series again. After the terrible performances in 2005-2007 ALDS' and the lack of a berth in 2008, I thought they were the new Atlanta Braves.
