So I totally forgot about this site till I got a email from one of the mods about it. Seems this section is mostly dead except for the weekly news threads so I thought I would post some reviews of the 39 disc set I recently got for about $35. Here we go:

1-6-96

Tony and Dusty are on commentary and are constatnly pluggin the Clash of Champions from vegas(Hogan/Savage vs Flair/Giant in the main event)

Eddie Guerrero vs The Gambler:
- Match is joined in progress but it really gets interesting when Gambler fucks up a move and Eddie gets pissed. Eddie destroys him with a brutal brainbuster and then a "jackknife" or as we know it: The Frogsplash.

Disco Inferno vs Black Bart
- This pretty much sucked. Yes it's the same Black Bart from World Class wrestling fame. Disco wins with Neckbreaker

Meng vs Mike Davis:
- Another not very good squash match.Tony and Dusty kept hard selling the Clash of the champions that is was "For Free and not like our competition that's rumbling for a price". Meng wins with the death grip.

Johnny B Badd vs David Taylor for the TV title
- Good match with both guys going at it on the mat. I forgot that Mero used to be actually good. Taylor rules it with the uppercuts and the bridges. Finish was great with Taylor flipping into the ring and Badd just knocking him out.

Alex Wright vs Chris Kanyon
- Man Kanyon's offense is great at times. Wright held his own but Kanyon held this together. Best thing about it is it wasn't really a Squash match like I thought it would be. Wright wins with a german suplex

Hugh Morris w/Meng vs Mark Starr
- Too bad Starr is not as good as Kanyon. Hugh wins with the No Laughing Matter and almost lands on Mark's face.

-The Horsemen(Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman) vs the American Males
: Good back and forth match with Pillman getting the win with a roll up. Tony and Dusty keep hapring on Pillman's "Loose Cannon" gimmick and how it's causing problems with the Horsemen vs Dungeon of Doom.

Main Event: Lex Luger vs the Cobra
- I don't know why they didn't end with Horsemen/Males but this was the final match. I don't think I have to tell ya how it ended as you should already know. Alright it ended with the Torture Rack.

Show ends with a Hogan/Savage interview about the Clash. The show also featured a Flair/Giant interview and part one of the Mike Ditka interview about Mongo(WILL DITKA JOIN WCW? Find out next week)

39 discs? Holy crap. How long of a time frame do they cover, and is it all just Saturday night shows? I just had a total flashback.

Wow..I remember that Mongo/Ditka crap. They promoted the hell out of it on Nitro for weeks.

Good thing the Gambler knew when to walk away and knew when to run.

Curious if the "Mike Davis" was the same guy from CWF/Global and other various smaller promotion of the late 80's and early 90's. I think he was 1/2 of the "Rock n' Roll RPMs". WCW would employ a lot of stiffs like that at this time (like Black Bart and Steve Doll).

And hey...glad you're back, Timmy!

Yeah it's just the Saturday Night shows: Here's the review for the 1-13-96 episode:

Show starts with clips from Nitro with The Giant attacking Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.

Tony and Dusty start the show plugging the Main event WCW Title match Ric Flair vs Randy Savage, One Man Gang vs Kensuke Sasaki for the US title and Part 2 of the Mike Ditka interview.

1. Steve Armstrong vs Alex Wright

- Babyface vs Babyface starts with some good mat work with Armbars and head scissors. Armstrong(who Dusty calls Scott Amrstrong) punches Wright in the corner to do the first "bad guy" move. Armstrong hits a nice doctor bomb for 2. He gets cocky and gets rolled up for the 1 2 3.
Winner: Alex Wright

Commercial for the Clash/Nitro travel package.

2. Scott Armstrong vs Eddie Guerrero:
- Early in the match, Armstrong goes after the back with a Mexican surfboard and Camel Clutch. Eddie tries to come back by going after the leg but Armstrong gets control back. Scott makes a mistake with a cocky pin and Eddie hits the brainbuster and Frogsplash for the win.
- Eddie Guerrero

Promo with VK Wallstreet about his match vs Mr. JL later on.

Clash of the Champions Control Center: Runs down the card:
Hogan/Savage vs Flair/Giant
Mexican Heavyweight title: Konnan vs Psicosis
Sting/Luger vs Blue Bloods
Eddie Guerrero vs Brian Pillman
Nasty Boys vs Public Enemy
Disco Inferno vs Kevin Sullivan
Alex Wright vs Dean Malenko
and the wedding of Col. Parker and Sherri.

3. Kevin Sullivan vs Butch Long
- Sullivan attacks from the start and throws him to the outside. He then kicks Long down the stairwell but Long gets back in the ring while the crowd chants "HOGAN". Sullivan hits the tree of woe and that's it.
Winner: Kevin Sullivan in about a minute.

Mean Gene Hotline report: Turning up the Heat on the Monday night wars, Secret partner of Hogan and Savage and What "New generation" promotion is signing a 55 and 45 year old for there next ppv?

4. American Males vs Men at Work
- Bagwell and Kanyon start with Bagwell taking advange and the males hitting a double dropkick. Dusty marks out for Tony saying "Men at work taking a coffee break" and says "The American Males didn't run today because it was a holiday". God bless Dusty Commentary. Mark starr finally makes a comeback with a cheap shot and some kicks to bagwell. They then go after Riggs leg. Tony starts talking about Madusa's return and "throwing away the title that means nothing". Great finish as Men at work go after Riggs and Mark Starr turns around to a Bagwell cross bodyblock.
Winners- American males

Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage interview: Talk about the Giant and Savage's match vs Flair.

Ric Flair promo about Savage:

Clips of Kensuke Sasaki vs One Man Gang: Gang wins with the 747 Splash. Looks like the Ref messed up the count cause Sasaki had his shoulder up at 2 1/2 but the Ref counted the pin anyways.

Clips from the Nitro main event: Hogan/Savage vs Arn/Flair. Hogan pins Anderson while the rest of the Horsemen try to interfere but are stopped by the Dungeon of Doom. Giant comes in and takes out Hogan and Savage.

5: VK Wallstreet vs Mr. JL
- Wallstreet starts off early by throwing him outside and hitting some suplexes. JL hits 2 Missle Dropkicks and tries to come back but soon after Wallstreet hits the Stock Market crash for the easy win.
Winner: VK Wallstreet

Mean gene interviews Flair and The Giant on Hogan and Savage. Giant says that they should bring the whole United States Military and it won't stop them.

Part 2 of the Ditka interview. Talks about the players he played with, His Superbowl teams, Mongo getting in the ring and Bischoff offers him a job.

6. Meng vs Dusty Wolfe
- Wolfe has no chance as Meng wins with the death grips.

Clips from Nitro: Luger/Sting interview about their tag team.

Mean Gene interviews Colonel Parker and Sister sherri.

7. WCW World Heavyweight title match: Ric Flair vs Randy Savage:
- Flair and Savage bring out their partners for the Clash and the Zodiac comes out. Zodiac tells Giant to leave and Hogan leaves too. Savage starts out early with a bunch of near falls and Flair goes to the outside. Flair gets control with an elbow and sends Savage to the outside. Flair goes after the leg and hits the Figure Four. Savage gets out of it and hits his elbow. Hogan comes out and Anderson comes out and hits Macho with a foreign object and Flair wins the match. The ref sees the object and reverses the decision.
Winner: Randy Savage by DQ

Savage and Hogan are interviewed after the match. Hogan calls Tony "Tony Shivonte. Says he's sick of the Dungeon of Doom and the Horsemen coming out and says he'll destroy Meng on Nitro. Savage is out of it and asks who's he fighting?

Good show with only a few crappy matches. It was WCW's "Fan appreciation" month so they put on some good matches. Best match was Armstrong/Wright or Armstrong/Guerrero.

The crowd chanting "rock n' roll" for Todd Morton is pretty damn funny. Like the time I went to Nitro, Kevin Nash jokingly mentioned "The Dog" (Al Green) and the crowd started barking.

And hey... _I_ care about Mongo and the Bears. And Pepe the Puppy, too.

Interview with Macho Man Randy Savage- Savage promises the UNIVERSE AND THE NEXT ONE that he will beat Flair in the cage.

Superbrawl Control Center: Double Main Events in a cage: Flair/Savage and Hogan/Giant.

3. The Barrio Brothers vs Nasty Boys
- Barrio Brothers jump the Nasty Boys during the entrance. IT's DOUBLE SCREEN ACTION. During most of the match or Brawl, Dusty is explaining what CLUBBERIN is: 4 Fists to the body at the same time. Nasties when with a Splash for the top after a pumphandle slam.
Winner: Nasty Boys

Recap of Finlay destroying Regal.

Interview with Johnny B Badd: He's going to win Kim's money back at Superbrawl.

Clips of DDP vs Joey maggs from the Main Event. Maxx takes out DDP by accident causing Maggs to win by Countout.

4. Joey Maggs vs DDP
- DDP wins with the Diamond Cutter in a ok squash match. Maggs looked good with some Mat work early on but DDP was just to much.
- Winner DDP

Interview with DDP: Kim winning the money never happen. DDP won it playing Craps.

In this weeks WCW beats WWF guy: Marcus Bagwell vs Vinnie Vegas

Time for a Hotline report: Road Warriors are back and who put them back together?

- Winner: Harlem Heat.

Interview with the Harlem heat: Bunch of talk about getting the titles back.

8: Eddie Guerrero vs Lex Luger
- Another good match. Eddie wins by DQ when Luger pulls the ref in front of a Guerrero missle Dropkick.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero

9. Dean Malenko vs Ric Flair
- Oh man this match could be awesome. Well it was a pretty good match. Typical Flair match with Malenko getting the advantage early but he makes a mistake and Flair goes after the leg. Arn Anderson comes out and helps flair and Flair wins with the Figure Four.
Winner: Ric Flair

Interview with Flair: More talk about Hogan and Savage.

Thoughts: The final 2 matches saved this from being a total borefest. Too much talk about Hogan and Savage. I can't wait till we get to the Outsiders coming in to freshen it up a little bit.

Tony and Dusty intro the show. They are attempting to interview Hogan via Satalite. Dusty says Hogan will be at Superbrawl like we ever doubted that.

Clips of Sting and Luger vs the Road Warriors for the titles. Luger beats Animal with a weapon to the back.

Interview with Luger and Sting: Sting is not happy about what happened on Nitro. Luger says he has a short fuse and apologizes. Sting doesn't like Jimmy Hart being with Luger and wants Luger to make a decision. Sting will give Luger another chance.

1. Barrio Brothers vs Sting and Luger
- Rematch from a couple weeks ago. Barrio Brothers do some nice double team moves on Sting but Luger is too much for them and Sting gets the win with the scropion and Luger with the Torture Rack.
Winner: Sting and Luger

In this weeks "lets bury WWF guys on WCW TV" video, Sting beats Sid Vicious.

Belfast Brusier interview: He's chased Regal all over the world and now is going to beat him in WCW.

2. Belfast Brusier vs Mike Marcello
- Finlay's debut in WCW. Total Stiff squash. Marcello dies for your sins with a powerbomb, stiff clotheslines and finally a tombstone piledriver. Dusty gets scared by the instant replay Claw.
Winner: Fit Finlay

Superbrawl Control Center: Double Cage matches, Respect Match,(Mean gene then does a Rodney Dangerfield impression) Sting/Luger vs Harlem Heat and the winners take on Road Warriors.

- Just throws and double chokeslams for the win.
Winner: Giant

Interview with Giant and Jimmy Hart: Giant smells the Golden one and will seal hogan's fate in a cage.

4. Johnny B Badd vs Bull Pain
- Good match with Badd hitting a tope con holio followed by a leg drop for the win. And yes it's the same Bull Pain from IWA MS fame.
Winner Johnny B badd

Johnny B Badd interview: It's funny during half of these interviews Mean Gene is wearing a bowtie and the other half he's wearing a full tie. DDP lost 6 million of Kim's money and Johnny is looking for revenge. Kim is not too fond of this match and she doesn't want to leave Johnny.

WCW Hotline report: What WWF superstar is coming to wcw? What former WWF guy from Hawaii is going back to WWF and had a stop over in WCW?(Crush?)

2/17/96 After the Superbrawl

Clips of Liz turning on the Macho man during the cage match and Flair celebration during Nitro.

1. The State Patrol vs American Males:
If you didn't know the State Patrol is James Earl Wright and Buddy Lee Parker.
This was surprising as I didn't expect much from it but it was decent. Match ends with a Double Dropick on Wright. I wouldn't call it a squash match as the Patrol had some nice moves.
Winner: American Males

2. Belfast Brusier vs Brad Armstrong:
Oh yeah this has potential, two great talents. Before the match, we have a Insert Regal interview from backstage who talks about his rivalry. The announcers put Armstrong over huge talking about his legacy on Saturday night. Some nice back and forth action but I can't get past the great mullets from both men. Just as the match was getting really good the Blue Bloods come in for the DQ and Finlay takes care of them both.
Winner by DQ Brad Armstrong

3. Men at Work vs The Armstrong Brothers:
- Steve and Scott represent the Armstrong brothers here. Funny thing before the match with Men at work not coming out and trying to have a Coffee break. Both these tag teams are Saturday Night regulars and work well with each other. Towards the end of the match they do some good double team moves but Men at work get the win with a Northern Light Suplex by Starr.
Winner: Men at Work

In the weekly lets bury guys in WWF we see clips of Hogan beating Vader.

Interview with Jimmy Hart and Loch Ness: He says he's here for one reason: To end Hulkamania

4. DDP vs Mike Winner
- Before the match, DDP gets his Vest and ring jacket taken away cause he couldn't pay for it. He lost everything to Johnny B badd at SuperBrawl. DDP reminds me of Flair in he lets his jobber opponents get a lot of offense in. Winner is ok but he loses pretty quick to the Diamond Cutter.
Winner: DDP

5. Blue Bloods(Eaton and Taylor) w/Regal vs Sting and Lex Luger
- Now it's going to get interesting as the Tag champs take on the Blue Bloods. Taylor starts off by putting Sting in some submissions. Taylor is really underrated and it's a shame he doesn't have Regal's Charisma cause he could have made it big. Thing break down pretty quickly and after some botches Sting beats Eaton with the Scorpion Deathlock.

A recap of Superbrawl featuring Brian Pillman leaving, Flair/Savage and Hogan/Giant with the debut of Loch Ness

Interview with Savage and Hogan behind a cage. They talk about Nitro.

6. Joey Maggs vs Chris Benoit
- Good stuff with Maggs hanging in there early but he loses to a Dragon Suplex by Benoit.

WCW Motor Sports: Steve Grissom in the number 29 WCW card shows Sting around the track.

7. Public Enemy vs Larry Santo and Buck Quartermaine
- Pretty boring match and the less said the better.

Clips from Nitro of Arn Anderson beating Hulk Hogan and the aftermatch.

Another interview with the Megapowers.

8. Kevin Sullivan vs Todd Morton:
- Poor Todd Morton never stood a chance. Sullivan knees him right in the nuts with the Tree of Woe.

Clips of Flair beating Vader from Starcade 93. WCW really hated Vader around this time.

Mean Gene with a Hotline report about Brian Pillman leaving.

9. Alex Wright vs Dusty Wolfe
- Nothing much with Alex winning with a German Suplex.

10. Nasty Boys vs Flair and Arn Anderson
- OK match with Anderson winning thanks to Liz and Woman with a ddt.

Final thoughts: Started out good but too many Squash matches. Finlay/Armstrong was really good and worth watching.

Who was that guy wrestling Joey Maggs? He sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't believe we've ever heard of him before.

I remember the "Men at Work". By any chance, were they announced as hailing from "The Land Down Under"?

Nah they hailed from "The Construction site" or something like that.

2-24-96

Intro showing clips from Nitro of Flair beating Savage and the Horsemen/Dungeon of Doom attacking Hogan but someone comes in to try and save Hogan. Who is it?

Clips from last week's Saturday night of DDP getting his Jacket and robe repoed.

Interview with Johnny B badd and Kimberly about DDP. Johnny is happy about DDP losing everything but Kim isn't.

1. Johnny B Badd vs The man that shall remain nameless that rhymes with Bris Kenoit
- This must have been one of Johnny's last WCW matches. Before the match we see a cheesy WCW Hotline commercial with Gene and bobby chasing everyone. Benoit just totally dominates this match early and even does a Liontamer. Badd finally comes back with a double Axe handle but accidently does a top rope Sunset Flip to ref Nic Patrick and gets DQ'd. Nice ending to a pretty good match.
Winner: Chris Benoit by DQ

Uncensored Control Center: Talk about Finlay/Regal, Eddy/Konnan and a Chicago Street Fight with the participants announced next week.

2. One Man Gang vs Pez Whatley
- Willie B Hurt himself in a squash match. Pez's headbutts are nice but not nice enough to save this match from being a typical boring Squash.
Winner: OMG

In our weekly lets bury Vader segment, We see clips of Sting beating Vader.

WCW Motorsports with Sting and Lex Luger. Steve Grissiom wins the Busch series Daytona race.

3. Scott Armstrong vs Konnan
- This is a interesting match. First couple minutes of the match is Konnan doing his lucha stuff and Armstrong has no idea how to work that way and it looks kinda messed up. Then Konnan decides to go all Battlarts on Armstrong and do funky Submissions. Finally he pins Armstrong with a roll up.
Winner: Konnan

WCW Hotline report: Who is being asked to do Hollywood movies?(It isn't Hogan) and more on Brian Pillman.

4. DDP vs Craig Pittman
- Very boring match. DDP isn't his 1997 self and Pittman just isn't good. Ends in a double count out.

Interview with Sting and Lex Luger

5. Sting and Lex Luger vs Public Enemy
- This was an OK match thanks to Sting. Typical Sting/Luger match with Luger taking most of the punishment from the heels and Sting making the comeback. Sting wins with a roll up on Rocco.
Winner: Sting and Lex Luger

Clips of Lex Luger beating a guy that looks a lot like the Undertaker. Mean Mark Callous? WHERE THE BIG BOYS PLAY

Clips from Nitro of Flair vs Savage. Savage loses thanks to a HIGH HEEL. The Booty Man makes his debut helping Savage and Hogan. This is followed by a interview with Savage/Hogan and the Booty Man. IT"S WAR

6. LOD vs The Gambler and Butch Long
- LOD were just awesome. The Gambler makes a stupid decision by throwing his cards at them and LOD just destroy him without even tagging in his partner. LOD wins with the Doomsday Device
Winner; LOD

DDP interview outside the building. He's interviewed by a new announcer named Lee Marshall. DDP gets his car towed away.

7. Scott Norton vs Ice Train
- Before the match we see clips from the match they had earlier in the day on WCW Pro that ended in a draw. This was basically a powerman match with lots of Clotheslines and slams. Ends when both men can't answer the 10 count. Mean Gene interviews Scott Norton and we see the formation of Fire and Ice.

8. Marcus Alexander Bagwell vs Loch Ness
- I think you know how this ends. Bagwell tries but loch ness gets him with one elbow drop and it's over.
Winner: Loch Ness

Interview with Loch Ness: He still wants Hogan.

Clips of Sting beating up Jake Roberts.

Show ends with a interview with Arn Anderson Ric Flair and Kevin Sullivan. They talk about the big Six man scheduled for Monday with Hogan, Savage and Booty Man.

Closing Thoughts: Pretty boring show outside of Badd/Benoit.

3-2-96

Intro with clips from Nitro of the 6 man with Hogan winning the match by pinning Arn and Liz handcuffing Hogan to the turnbuckle.

Tony and Dusty run down events and intro Lee Marshall as a new host.

1. Loch Ness vs The Shadow and Kenny Shaw
- Kenny Shaw i'm pretty sure is Kenny Kaos of High Voltage fame. First thing I notice is they finally taped in a new arena and out of Center Stage. As for the match, it ends in about 50 seconds with a Elbow Drop to both men.
Winner: Loch Ness

Mean Gene interviews Loch ness and Jimmy Hart. Loch Ness is out of breath even after saying a sentence. He wants Hogan blah blah blah.

Clips of Steven Regal beating up the British Bulldog.

2. Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater vs American Males
- Bunkhouse doesn't come out with Slater even though Penzer announces him so it starts out as a handicap match. Buck never shows up and Slater holds his own for a little but the Males are just too much and it ends with a double dropkick. After the match, Slater and Parker argue.
Winner: The American Males

Mean Gene interviews Slater and Parker. Parker is having problems and Slater wants answers. Madusa comes out and punches Parker. She calls him a Boring Individual. Great insult

Uncensored Control Center: Luger/Sting vs LOD in a Chicago Street Fight, Bruiser vs Regal, Eddie Guerrero vs Konnan and Man vs Woman: Madusa vs Col. Parker.

3. Arn Anderson and Kevin Sullivan vs Tom Kent and Scott D'amore
- This is the first time at least on SN they are calling this group the Alliance to End Hulkamania. Anyways the match ends in about 20 second with a Arn DDT. The Jobbers have DDP's tights on the announcers say. D'Amore gets destroyed with the Tree of Woe after the match and Flair with the Ladies come out.

Mean Gene interviews the Alliance. They talk about the rematch of the 6 man with Lumberjacks and Straps on Nitro.

Hotline Report: A superstar is leaving a certain promotion, he says he quit and the promotion says he was fired(Scott Hall?)

4. Chris Benoit vs Eddie Guerrero
- Finally a good match. They fight back and forth but Eddie gets the win with a roll up. Benoit attacks the knee after the match. Benoit even kicked out of the Frog Splash.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Lee Marshall interviews Chris Benoit: He says he proved a point and wants a rematch with Eddie next week. He's also not happy about the Alliance formation.

5. DDP vs Joey Maggs
- Another short match with DDP winning with the Diamond Cutter.
Winner: DDP

Lee Marshall interviews DDP: He wants another match with Johnny B Badd. If DDP loses, he will leave WCW.

6. Cobra vs Lex Luger
- Typical Luger match with the opponent doing most of the work and he making a comeback like nothing happened. Jimmy Hart comes out and Sting goes after him. Luger wins with the Torture rack and saves Jimmy Hart. Luger and Sting have words after the match.
Winner: Lex Luger

Mean Gene interviews Sting and Lex Luger
- Luger acts like nothing's wrong while Sting smells a Rat. He says Luger doesn't know what a Chicago Street Fight is and had a silver spoon in his mouth.

Clips from Nitro and after that a interview with Hogan and Savage about the 6 man.

7. V.K Wallstreet vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan
- Oh god this is going to suck. Thankfully the match wasn't long and Duggan wins with help from Craig Pittman.
- Winner: Hacksaw Duggan

8. The Giant vs Dave Sullivan
- I did not know Sullivan was around into 96. Dave brings Ralph the Rabbit with him. Dave gets in the ring, takes his jacket off, Giant Kicks him, chokeslams him and it's over in 10 seconds or so. Giant then chokeslams some Jobbers before Duggan makes the save with a taped fist.
Winner: Giant

This week in WCW Motor sports

Sit down interview with Elizabeth: She Hates Randy Savage and wants everything he has. Man she was hot when she was bitchy.

9. Faces of Fear vs Larry Santo and Pat Tanaka:
- Total Squash match. Tanaka doesn't even tag in.

This weeks clip of Vader getting beaten by a WCW wrestler

10. WCW title match Ric Flair vs Sting
- Finally a possible great match. Rare title match on Saturday Night. Pretty good match with no finish as the Time ran out. Very old school of WCW.

Final Thoughts: This was a chore to go through but it had some pretty good matches like Benoit/Guerrero, Sting/Flair and Slater/Males.
