NWA Worldwide #3: 08/22/09
from Orlando, FL
Hosts are Jim Ross and Bob Caudle
Bobby Heenan is out with NWA World Tag Team Champions the Hennigs. Later today on World Championship Wrestling they'll be announcing the team that gets the first shot at the titles. Curt interjects. He runs down the Road Warriors as being brainless brutes, he says the New Age Outlaws are overrated. And the Russians... well, this is America. He'll be dead in the ground before he sees a couple of Commies holding the NWA Tag Team Titles.
1. Midnight Express d. Randy Barber and Joshua Stroud when Condrey pins Barber with the FACE FIRST LEG SWEEP Really quick and dominating win for the Midnight Express this week.
Jim Cornette stops by the announce table ranting and raving. He says the Hennigs have a lot of nerve ignoring his boys earlier today. They're the top contenders, they're better than all of those other teams. They won't take getting snubbed lightly.
2. Konnan submits Mark Hill with the TEQUILA SUNRISE Another quick match as Konnan gets Hill to the mat and submits him.
Konnan grabs the house mic. Tonight he and Buff Bagwell are going to face the Sheik and Sabu. He wants to rid the NWA of a brute like the Sheik.
3. Masked Superstar pins Lee Ramsey with the SPINNING NECKBREAKER Another short bout this week. Superstar applies a sleeper and then hits his patented Spinning Neckbreaker to get the win.
Sir Oliver Humperdink and One Man Gang are out. OMG says that he's going to show the world that he's the king of the giants tonight on World Championship Wrestling. He's the toughest man in the NWA and it'll only be a matter of time until he wins the World Heavyweight Champion.
4. Danny Hodge pins Rocky King with the OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL Hodge used a variety of submission holds to wear King down. He locked on an abdominal stretch and almost had the win. But finally hit his patented pinning combination to get the win.
Danny Hodge by the announce table. Ross asks him what he thinks about facing the winner of the Stan Lane/Jushin Liger match. Hodge thinks both men have their strengths and weaknesses. Hodge thinks Liger has an advantage in the match but Jim Cornette might help steal a win for Lane. Hodge looks forward to making the first defense of his championship belt though. He'll also be sitting ringside in Toledo, OH so he can scout the winner of the Liger/Lane match.
5. Antonina Rocca submits Tommy Angel with the ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER Rocca wins the bout in relatively easy fashion.
Diamond Dallas Page is backstage with Lee Marshall. He reveals that he's the one that laid out the Mountie last week. He explains that the Mountie can expect more of the same until he agrees to a rematch.
6. The Mongols d. Paul Garner and Mike Simone when Geeto pins Simone with a lunging double throat chop The Mongols seemed more interested in causing damage than actually winning the match. Geeto finally ended the slaughter when he pinned Simone after a brutal double throat chop.
Next week... the Mountie, S.D. Jones, Ravishing Rick Rude, the Crusher and Red Bastien, Al Snow and D'Lo Brown and the Destroyer.

Ed "Strangler" Lewis and John Pesek come out for an interview. Lewis says that what they did to RVD on Worldwide was a statement. Maurice Tillet applies the Bear Hug to Duggan while Fritz Von Goering runs down to the ring. Tillet keeps the Bear Hug on while Goering pounds away at Duggan. Gunn came in and made the save. Valentine went for a body slam but Dogg managed to escape the hold. Dogg hit the Shake, Rattle and Roll Knee Drop and then hit the Pump Handle Slam to get the pinfall. Big win for the NAO here as they needed to make an impact in the tag team division. *1/2, really fast paced and short match.

He's spending 10 hrs. a day at the gym and training like he's never trained before. He's really in shape. He's stronger and faster than he's ever been before. He wants to retain his championship really bad. He wants to hold this championship belt for a really long time.
Missing Link pins Pepper Gomez with the BACK FLYING HEADBUTT Missing Link brutalized Gomez during this match. Link busted him open with a wild chair shot to the head.
