As usual, we're the social pariahs of any social network or community to which we belong, so it's a four-day weekend seeing no-one instead of a two-day weekend seeing no-one. angry.gif Can't believe EVERYone we know is too busy to spare time during a weekend that is meant to symbolise Christian Charity to ask us to lunch! Even dh's relatives are too busy with...you guessed it...family!

What are other club members up to? I hope others here have a more interesting time than we do....God, I hate Easter....I am expected to be happy and chipper when no-one knows our family is alive! And those we know wonder why we have a child with socialisation issues!

End of vent, have a good weekend, seriously....

My partner and I are off to do a surprise visit to the parents and siblings with gifts. We're going to let them know about Wednesday, and make sure that we aren't there for dinner to save them the trouble of cooking us anything. My partner also scored two weeks of holidays that cross over with mine (I'm a high school teacher), so we're going to do some day trips and generally just spend time together.

I'm sorry to hear your Easter isn't going to be all you'd hoped it to be, nzfiona. Maybe things will work out all right in the end and you'll find yourself surprised with a visit from the family.

Hope you have a good time. Sounds nice, what you're doing, having a surprise visit to family. You know, my husband once tried to organise a surprise birthday party for me and invited all these people we know - and one couple turned up because their other plans had fallen through, while no-one else came - my poor dh, he had booked a restaurant believing no RSVP equated to a 'yes'! In the end we discovered, the other people (he'd invited 10 families) had waited until that morning to see if something else was happening instead of a party for me. So surprise things are a horror story for our family. We call them 'unscheduled entertainment'!

Day trips are a good idea but after being at work all day (I am at home with our AS son, who is home-schooled) my dh prefers to spend weekends at the PC or the garage. Besides, we have a child who doesn't like day trips as they're out of his autistic comfort zone (unless DW or Star trek is involved LOL).

Doctor Who Marathon?
Since I'm the only one in my family who really (and I mean REALLY) likes the show (except for my 10 month old daughter, she likes the introduction music), I guess I'll buy some more Conifers from Bunnings (I bought some last weekend for $5.98 each) and I'll be doing a bit of gardening over the weekend.
We'll also do some grocery shopping, and go for a walk around Lilydale Lake (provided the weather is nice) so that should pretty much be the whole weekend.
My suggestions might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy them.

There is alway Planet of the Dead and the accompanying confidential, as well as three new episodes of Red Dwarf to add excitment to the Easter weekend!

Is Planet of the Dead showing in Australia this weekend, then?

I very much doubt it.
The earliest the ABC could get The Next Doctor screened was 1 month after the UK.
I have just emailed the ABC and requested confirmation of exactly when they will screen Planet Of The Dead.

It's following the same turnaround as The Next Doctor. However I'm sure downloaders will start torrenting it the instant it's over on BBC.

Good Friday: A small gathering of my friends from work will come round to my place for chocolate and a curry - possibly an interesting combination, albeit one I shall keep separate. Futurama shall be watched, and possibly some Wii playing will occur. Mostly, it will be talking time to catch up with a friend we hardly saw since Christmas. laugh.gif

Better Saturday: Will probably go out for lunch and see a film with above friends, before going out to the Cirque de Soleil spectacular. cool.gif

Average Sunday: A day in the city, spent mostly at galleries (and a little at Minatour if open). tongue.gif

Easter Monday: Committee Meeting, with a scarily long agenda. Will check Michael has coffee on stand-by! huh.gif

Someone recently heard from the ABC that they currently don't have any Doctor Who episodes planned to air, so I'm not sure what that means in terms of Planet of the Dead. Mind you, the person was inquiring about why Season Two was stopped mid-season during the reruns.

Minotaur? I really need to pay a visit to that place again. Anything new come in recently that anyone is aware of?

Yes, that was me who enquired with the ABC about Season Two. I have since asked about Planet Of The Dead but don't yet have a response.
As for Minotaur, I went there on Friday, and the most recent DVD release they had was the E-Space Trilogy. They do have the most recent edition of Doctor Who Monthly, but they don't have the Cyberman action figures, or the Season Four Wave 2 (River Song, etc) action figures.

I'll try my ABC sources. Last I heard, they had 'Green lighted' the short series, but were thinking about waiting until they get all of them, then have some sort of "Who Marathon".

There was also some speculation that they may air it on ABC2 only. Will keep you posted!

As for my Easter: My family is going up to the Gold Coast, leaving me behind to man the shop. My Easter is hectic-ish:

Thursday, Friday, Saturday Nights, and Sunday Morning: Easter Choir performances at St Mary's Basilica

Thursday and Friday Day parts: Autumn Cleaning

Saturday Morning, Sunday Afternoon and Monday: Nothing planned yet!

The same for Red Dwarf on Dave. The latest trailer for Planet of the Dead is on Utube for those who are interested.

You mean the back to earth specials? I think the third is a confidential not an episode.

Not that we endorse torrenting cool.gif

I am continually not surprised that two different sources fro the same company give two different answers - even though they work in a similar position in two different states!

Just soliloquising really!!

One, or both of us are bound to be right, or wrong. You never can tell.... The ABC has a mind of it's own!

It betrayed Golem and got picked up by a Hobbit, who passed it on to get thrown into some volcano.

Now it has erupted from the volcano and been caught by the strangest of all creatures: The Federal Government!

What happens next is anyone's guess!
