I've given up on the hobby and have sold off all my stuff (well must of it and what's left I'm sure will be pilfered by Gman when he visits wink.gif ).

The reason, well Its not that I didn't enjoy all aspects of 40k bar two.

It was getting expensive. Not that any hobby isn't, but when I put it into perspective as to how much I was putting in compared to what I was getting out it just didn't add up.

The next point for me was the clinch and it may seem like two points, but for me they go hand in hand when considering my new hobby. Social interaction and physicality. At the time when I made my decision to quit 40k there was a very limited group of mature players where I live ( that I was aware of), and to be honest I just don't have the mental will or time to babysit a bunch of teenagers). So really it was just me and my good mate, so in all honesty that did limit things.
The second part of this reason is when there is only a limited number, or two in my case, then you start to lack incentive to push the limits. And that sort of ties in physicality. I play airsoft now. And I'm not getting younger and I like to tip down a few ales in the weekend. When I played 40k there was no incentive to get fit. With airsoft I have personally wanted to get fitter- like when you play 40k or any other game you want to improve and become better.
So while personally I want to become more skilled and fitter while playing airsoft, socially (and this is me personally) I don't want to let the boys down.

40k vs Airsoft? I couldn't do both, just don't have the time or the money. I could try and I'd just end up doing both half arsed. I don't regret selling my armies, even though I had put a lot into them. I'm actually quite happy that for the most part they went to good homes. But I think for me at my age, physically and mentally airsoft has been a god send.... not that I'm religious.

I wish you guys all the best! But in reality I'm done here.

Friday nite game mid winter, so numbers are always low. Usual bunch of deviants....

That's me sporting my multicam rig, M4 assault rifle and 1911A1 1970 government issue side arm. What you don't really see is my radio.... really works wonders. Weapon mounted torch...... looks cool but can act as a fire magnet! Hydration bladder.... even when its cold old fellers need a drink! But my best buy has been the knee pads..... because I work for a living and I'm not 20 anymore!!

You got that right.

Really sad to have lost you from the hobby mate, and hopefully you'll pop in from time to time and give us updates on what you've been up to.

Well damn. I finally get the internet back for the first time in several months, begin to get time to go on forums and suchlike now that uni is slacking, only to find that Spaniel has fallen by the wayside ohmy.gif.

I can't much say I blame you with regards to the pricing - being a student totally put my wargaming on hold, far more than I expected, and now that I'm out in the big bad world expansion of my figure collections is looking...limited, and I'm contemplating selling a few things to help with the debt and so forth.

Sorry to see you go from the hobby, you were an excellent modeller and painter and you've been quite a laugh on the forums. Hopefully I'll see you around and about online (assuming I don't disappear again), and good luck for the future!
