So how many points now? And is that all you will do, or do you want to expand the Jade Dragons more?

Nice painting, btw.

To be honest I'd like to see a little bit of green on the vanguard and terminators to tie them in with the rest of the army. But I am anal like that.

Good work all the same.

Thanks.

Fluff wise the 1st company veterans bear a shame so terrible that they refuse to wear the chapter's colours (so no green shoulders).

as for points: in apocalypes I can field 3440pts however I am still expanding just I've forbidden myself to buy any more marines until what I have is painted (same as I can't buy anymore IG until all my IG are painted sad.gif , etc.)

I still have 2 chaplains to paint and my captain on cyber dragon which I need to modify then paint.

I might break my own rule and buy another Landspeeder soon.

Looking good. So exactly how many captains do you have? And if I didn't allow me to buy without first finishing painting I wouldn't have gotten past my first sqaud box lol.

5 Captains and a Master plus I have another captain, 2 chaplains and a Librarian/sorcerer (he can be played as both Pre betrayal or post betrayal)

I know that it is odd to have so many captain conversions however each captain is unique in both play style and point costs so I have plenty to choose from when concidering what to take.

My army's just one big conversion when you look at it.
The Devastators were made from tactical squads.

The veterans were made from tactical squads.

The tactical squads are a mix of tactical squads and an assault squad.

The Terminator Sergeant was made from an Assault Terminator kit.

All except one of my Terminator HQ were made from Assault Terminators.

The Landspeeders... well their normal but that's about all that's normal.

Amazing what one conversion can do... To fill that hole I had to make another hole, etc.

Pretty much filled the holes for now... until my next bright idea laugh.gif

My plans are so far is to complete my Landspeeder Squadrons, 2 more tactical squads plus 4 Multi-meltas and an honour guard made from the 4 marines I remove to make room for the multi-meltas.

Oh and another scout squad...

++EDIT++

Plan Changed very peeved at GW; a Second Price hike in a month for selected Spacemarine products!? angry.gif what are those guys at GW thinking? are they trying to commit corporate suicide?!

new plan: Landspeeder Squadrons, 2 Multi-meltas and scouts

The Jade Dragon are no more. Destroyed by the force of chaos and the betrayal of Chief Librarian Skaldan Duelgun but from the ashes a new chapter will arise...

born from the 1st and 7th companies who were not infiltrated by chaos plus the remains the high templar (captains)

the new chapter has arisen with a new name, new look and a new symbol.

let me introduce my new chapter project: Purifiers

A new look that blends the Vanguard Veterans with the standards and (my opinion) looks far better biggrin.gif

more fluff on my blog

oh and before you ask VFS I didn't do this solely on your comment on the lack of green on my Veteran marines.

I have always wanted to to repaint my marines I just couldn't find enough excuses to do so. I figured why waste paint on a repaint?

But that said I hate my original symbol. It was so characterless and boring.

so I figured I'd repaint my models when I got a new symbol.

so what do you guys think? Better then my previous scheme?

I like the colour scheme (similar to this forum??), actually the red stripe down the middle of the helmets looks really fitting.

Did I copy this forum's scheme? ohmy.gif

we since my first prototype model for the new scheme was back in 4th Ed (the Captain pictured)
I'd have to say no, Custode Eternal is copying me laugh.gif

Yeah, I think I might go back over and give all my vanguard red "racing" stripes/crests

also need to remember to highlight the command squads eyes. Numbers wise this is my smallest army so I better make them the best looking army.

and to think: If Legion of the Damned was released in 4th ed my captain and the vanguards would of been modelled and painted as lost in time Luna Wolves. I would of still been the black and green Jade Dragons.

Gee been a while since I've touched this army, So whats new since my last post? I've repainted the 1st of my 2 tactical squads and finally painted one of my Chaplains I've also remodeled the Aux Grenade Launcher on the Original Terminator Angelus Armour, going to do the same to the Mini Iron Clad next time I do some painting.

Army so far:

As you all know I love writing custom rules So I'm going to write my own codex for this Chapter

This Codex Will include:

Terminator Angelus Units,
Purge Squads (A Squad armed with flamers and heavy flamers with the ability to 'Bladestorm'),
Landspeeder Infernos (Landspeeders armed with Flamestorm Cannons and/or Plasma Cannons),
Dragon Dreads (Dreadnought with a inferno Cannon or Melta Cannon),
Pyro Raptors (Marines mounted on Flightless fire Breathing Dragons),
and Wyvern Launchers (light Weight Whirlwind style truck that fires pairs of medium range bunker purging Wyvern Missiles)

Special rule (in place of Combat Tactics) Firebreathing; Thanks to a special ritualistic feast before battle the marines can belch fireballs on their foes the result is +1 the Combat resolution if 1 or more units with this rule are engaged.

Special characters will include the Original Terminator Angelus, Regent Salvator, Master of the chapter and a demi Ogryn Veteran Sergeant with a battle fate against Kharn the Betrayer (I don't know how I'm going to model that one just sounds cool)

The overall effect I'm hoping for is a Chapter that specialises in difficult and dangerous terrain combat and fear tactics

Cool. Fluffwise you could say that the firebreathing is due to a mutation in the chapter's Betcher's Glands that turn the acid produced into something more like napalm.

Have you tried any washes out? Ever since I started using inks years ago, and more recently washes/GW washes, I've been really happy with them. Helps give easy shading and smooth out sections. Might be worth experimenting with.

Much like your idea biggrin.gif, I can then say that their Wyvern missiles are armed with concentrated amounts their spit laugh.gif

the closest thing I use as a wash is black paint watered down to an ink but I'll will give them a try one day.

Back to fluff and crazy rules how about this one:

Purge Squad Sergeants in deperate times are known to power chuck bio-plasma at their foes this is a dangerous habit that often claims the life of the marine instead. The Purge Squad Sergeant counts as being armed with an Aux plasma weapon that can be fired in addition to other weapons however no save is possible against a 'Gets Hot' result.
The plasma shot has the following profile:
Rng 6" Str 6 AP 2 Assault 1 Gets Hot.

Now to balance Vulgarism with fanaticism: The chapter has more chaplains then normal they can take an additional chaplain that doesn't count against the force organisitional chart This is due to close ties and rivalry with the Ecclesiarchy (they basically see the Adeptus Sororitas as inadequate to bring the light of the emperor to the galaxy)

Tactical Squads can also take an second flamer in addition to normal weapons options however heavy weapons cost more.

Man, I really should quit my rambling and get to painting laugh.gif

Well not much done with this army in a while been, too busy with other projects and when I'm not busy I'm not in the mood to paint sad.gif

However I've tinkering with the rules for the Wyvern. Originally it was going to be a rocket artillery truck like a light weight Whirlwind however after a discussion with one of the guys down at the local store I've had a new idea that would likely be easier to model and makes more sense from a marine perspective; A variation of the Landspeeder storm.

So would be the difference between them?

Unlike the storm the wyvern is not a scout transport instead the transport space is taken up by the extra crew and weapon systems

Cerberus launcher is removed

the Heavy bolter is replaced with a Heavy Flamer

also it has a twin linked flamer on either flank

finally the jamming beacon is removed in favour of an experimental Wyvern Missile system

With the following profile:

Range: 36" Strength: 4 AP: 5 Heavy 4, Barrage, blast, Ignores cover, one shot.

the Idea of the Wyvern is the enter play, Fire it's salvo of Wyvern Missiles as it's closing on it's entrenched target then finish them off with a mass of flames making the best use of it's speed.

Let me know what you guy's think. smile.gif
