I thought this one was good fun. Maybe not the most original idea but I enjoyed it and I thought the first erm .. encounter
was quite funny. I do like Gwen but I hope she's gonna become a bit more of a competent member of the team soon although if it means more girl on girl action then she can make as many mistakes as she likes. |

If this one played out the way it sounds on paper then this could have been the worst episode I've seen of anything this year!
Fortunately, it doesn't. The plot is pretty much a vehicle for displaying how this is much more adult-orientated than Doctor Who, and to further establish the core group of characters. It works on both levels. Eve Myles puts in another solid performance but for me it's Barrowman who impresses more with each episode. I had a few doubts that he'd be able to carry a series of this magnitude but on the evidence so far I think he's more than capable. Decent effects, and as shown in the Declassified, a truly fantastic set design for Torchwood's hub. Next week's episode looks interesting as well |

I liked it but not as much as the pilot, I did like the character development though and Gwen and Jack were great again.
It may have suffered from my being really tired when it was shown though so I may have to watch it again |

We intended watching them both last night as well but only made it through the first one. We Sky+ it and watched it earlier this evening |

There were bits that I liked about this ep, like Gwen forgetting her case and having to go back for it while the rest of the team strode on ahead to investigate the alien craft-meteor-thingy, and when Gwen saw her previous Police partner outside the club, but on the whole - meh .
I thought the story was slight and a redo of Species. |

adult content: they weren't kidding .......... did they have to have the horny alien plot in the second episode already
................ so it seem the CCTV is of a big use for torchwood but shouldn't they worry about "civilian" watching (did they drug the guy to remove his memory?)i like gwen more thinking about the human part of the all thing when the rest of the team just want to deal with the alien whatever the consequence. she still have a lot to learn (stay always with jack or be call little girl by authority , do not enter a cage for whatever reason , .....)the return of the episode one alien ... is it because the writer want us to not forget about it because there will be an other episode with it later on. an ok episode |

That's what I thought, too You could almost see the gears in their brains working: "Ooh, we're more mature, we're on after the watershed, let's put in some sex and swearing" The part of the episode that did work well, I thought, was Gwen trying to inform the others on the human approach |

I'm going to have to watch again, as I was almost
due to being too tired! My impression though was that it was pretty good. Much, much better than it should have been, given the premise. Some nice character development too. Andrew |

Ditto. It felt like a `daring` teenager swearing in front of his parents. |

AAAAARRRGGGHHHH A lesbo snog session
It truly is more terrifying than Doctor Who could ever be A fab episode, a slight anti-climax (pun intended) after the first ep, but still a great story in it's own right. Good to see Gwen trying to get the team to reconnect with the world outside of Torchwood, and giving us more info on the group at the same time. I'm liking the character of Owen, but Gods alone knows why, he just makes me laugh for some undefinable reason. I had hoped it would be Jack who was de-fabricated first in the team, but hey, I'll settle for Owen As long as Jack and Ianto are next in line |

Very good show both episodes, I will be watching every week now.
I was the only one in my family though that actually realised the relevance of the 'hand'. |

if it's the hand of the doctor (for the chrismas invasion), shouldn't be at the london HQ? and after the visit of the doctor in the doctor who season two finale, shouldn't it be back in the hands of the doctor (not sure what he would do with it?) or maybe it will be the reason the doctor will appear in torchwood
or will he? |

The two young teenagers that I watched Torchwood with, gave it 8/10, one saying that it was better than Dr Who. Initially I went along with the 8/10 but then later on downgraded it to a 7/10. When I woke up at five o'clock the following morning, because I was feeling cold under my summer duvet, I thought about Torchwood again, and was tempted to downgrade this score even further, to a 6/10.
I found Torchwood adequate, but it didn't have anything that I haven't seen already, and I found myself feeling bored during the second episode. I found the girls snogging, the mobile curb stone, and the series of dust piles in the rooms, all a bit ludicrous, but not in an entertaining way. I have enjoyed Russell's other work, especially 'Queer as Folk', and I can see that some people might like the down to earth style that Russell has brought to Torchwood, but to me it lacked any real mystery and atmosphere. I expect I will carry on watching it for a while though. |

Wasn't London Torchwood destroyed?
That would assume that the Doctor knew the hand was there. AFAIK he didn't. |

I think so. As for the hand, I don't see why it would have fallen into Torchwood hands on impact anyway. Maybe Dan will tell us |
