That's right, MacLeod is back.
No not that MacLeod the other MacLeod.
No not the cartoon one, the other one.
Listen, there can only be one, right, and he's back...again...so he can be the only one...again.
He is Duncan MacLeod of the clan MacLeod and he shall again be wielding his sword on October the 17th in Lithuania.
Read on Cult Forumers...

Duncan MacLeod is coming back, and here is what Adrian (Paul) has to say about it:

A new Highlander film is scheduled to start shooting later this year in Eastern Europe. David Abramowitz, the head writer on Highlander: The Series, is putting the final touches on the script for this new adventure. Once the script is approved, the film will go into pre-production.

I always said I would never do another Highlander film unless I had more control over the final product. Well, this time I am the Executive Producer. When the rights fell back to Davis-Panzer Productions, Peter Davis approached me to star and executive produce.

Brett Leonard (Lawnmower Man) is set to direct. Get ready to see a new Highlander film that has the quality of the television series with a new look and sound for 2006. Everyone is excited to be able to produce something that we'll have more control over, while revamping this successful franchise.

I just thought I would let you know that I am leaving tomorrow for Vilnius. As an added note, we have totally cast the movie now. We start shooting on October 17th.

(The cast is:)

Adrian said,

"It is a good cast and we are really excited that the story has progressed in the spirit of the television series, with quite a few surprises along the way. Now the w**k really begins."

The film is titled Highlander: The Source, and set for release (probably just on dvd) sometime in 2006.

Remember, there can only be one. user posted image

I would imagine not that many people are but I'm actually really looking forward to this. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

She is gone! Get over it! I think Duncan has too, judging by the hundred or so birds he has bedded since her death!

Nice to see other people still with the Highlander bug!

The Source only has maybe 2 weeks of initial shooting left.
Things have apparently not been going too well with regards to the organisation of shooting in Lithuania but it seems that what they do have could be real quality!

Adrian Paul has been providing weekly (sometime even more than 1 update in a week!) blogs on his website.

AP Source Updates

He comes across as a really down to earth guy who believes in the project and wants to do the best he can (he's got bills to pay too you know!).
Seriously though. It's sounding good.
I just think its great of Paul to keep all the fans up to date.
Most actors wouldn't bother their arse.

There can be only one...Highlander film coming out in 2006. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Filming Wraps on Highlander: The Source

Filming wrapped on Lionsgate's Highlander: The Source, directed by Brett Leonard (Virtuosity, Lawnmower Man), on December 8 in Lithuania. The studio is planning a 2006 release for the new installment starring Adrian Paul as the immortal Scottish swordsman, Duncan MacLeod.

The film is (COULD BE) the first feature in (A POSSIBLE) the Trilogy. "The Source" will tell the story of Immortals as they quest to locate the Holy Grail of their world. The entire series of films will chronicle the origins of the Immortals.

Adrian Paul maintained a set diary on his official site HERE

Also, the first photos from the set -- both candid and official -- can be found on the website of the official international Highlander fan club HERE

The photos show Paul as Duncan MacLeod and Peter Wingfield as Methos. The candids include shots of Paul, Wingfield and Jim Byrnes, who reprises his role as Joe Dawson from Highlander: The Series.

Reading Adrian's blog you can see he has a real enthusiasm for the franchise and specifically for this film itself.

It will more than likely go straight to dvd by the way, but good sales could mean a possible sequel, although personally, I would be surprised if that were the case.
Hopefully, if this is the last outing for AP, then it will be a memorable one.

Highlander's Paul Goes To Source ( from sci fi wire)

QUOTE
Adrian Paul, star and executive producer of the upcoming SCI FI original movie Highlander: The Source, told SCI FI Wire that film five in the long-running film and television franchise examines the source of immortality. Paul reprises his role as the long-lived Scottish swordsman Duncan MacLeod in Highlander: The Source, which premieres Sept. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

"Everything has gone to pot, basically," Paul said in an interview. "The world is sitting in another place and time, and he's kind of lost hope as to ever being anybody or achieving anything. Everybody keeps saying, 'You're the one. You're the guy. You're the ... .' But virtually everyone he knows has died, and the world has turned to s--t, and so he's kind of like, 'OK, I don't know what to do anymore with who I am or what I'm supposed to be here for.'"

Further complicating the situation, the love of MacLeod's life, Anna Teshemka (Thekla Reuten), has inexplicably left him. "And now his only intent is he just wants to find her," Paul said. "What ends up happening is that he finds her, but he finds her while she's on the quest with these other Immortals for the Source."

Paul said that The Source is different in structure from previous Highlander projects. "This was a more linear story," Paul said. "It had no flashbacks, which surprised me, actually, at first, because I always loved doing the flashbacks, and I know the fans loved them. So it was really tricky to do. I think the idea was really good, in the sense that it was it became a quest movie. All the others had a different feel to them and were a little more convoluted. This one has one storyline that goes all the way through."

QUOTE
Adrian Paul, who played the immortal Scottish swordsman Duncan MacLeod in the Highlander television series, told SCI FI Wire that the future of the franchise is complicated by the recent death of longtime producer William Panzer. Paul starred in and co-executive produced the most recent telefilm in the franchise, the SCI FI original movie Highlander: The Source.

"Bill died this year, and so I don't know what [Panzer's partner] Peter Davis is going to do with the franchise," Paul said in an interview. "I have heard, kind of through the industry, people say, 'Oh, it's a great franchise. It should be revamped. Somebody should buy it, blah, blah, blah.' I have no idea. I don't know what's going to happen with that. Peter and Bill had two different parts of the franchise. Bill was the creative guy, if you like, and Peter was the financier, in a sense. So they had two [different] strengths, and I don't know now what Peter will do with the franchise itself."

Even if Highlander were to return, there's no guarantee that Paul would reprise the central character. Asked about it, Paul replied "Don't know" several times. And what if Davis invited Paul to assume the creative end from Panzer? "Maybe," Paul said, laughing. "I'm not sure. I'm not sure. There are a lot of factors that need to be taken into consideration. I have a lot of things going now, and I'd really like to produce some other stuff. They do have an animated series that they're about to launch, which lends it to a younger [audience]."

Paul added: "That's what The Source was all about originally, the fact that there is, hopefully, a younger immortal eventually going to be taking over the reins, if you like. So that's where I think they would possibly go with it, so I don't know if me getting involved would work."

I have seen Highlander: The Source.

It was pretty bad. In fact I may go as far as to say that it was terrible. It was so bad it wasn't even in the 'so bad it's good' category laugh.gif
