A little diappointing after last week but I expected that tbh.

Too much Daenerys and not enough of the more interesting characters.

Best bits were probably Brienne and Jaime and Jon Snow, though that could have been fleshed out a bit more. Arya was good as usual, as was Tyrion.

Also would have liked to seen more of what happened at Winterfell, what happened to the Northmen? Why didn't they stay at Winterfell, did they chase the Iron Islanders? I assume Theon is still alive. Why did Bran have to go north, who was there left to threaten them?

Overall I've enjoyed this series - I think Tyrion's been the most interesting and Arya a very close second. If they cut out a bit of the sex and have a little more action then that'd be good.

I thought it was a mess, tbh. Seeing Benioff & Weiss getting the writing credits left me with little hope. Yet again the episode jumped about like a demented MTV video.

Robb's wedding to Talisa just didn't ring true, especially after Catelyn's council (which he didn't have in the book). They bolloxed that storyline up a bit, imo.

Why did they bother introducing Ser Dontos (the drunk knight) in the first episode and then have his lines to Sansa delivered by Littlefinger instead? I can understand them wanting to get Littlefinger more involved, but then the scene in the first episode was a total waste.

I thought, for the first time, that Alfie Allen was doing a good job with the scenes with Maester Wotsisface and then Theon's speech - and then they decided to try and get a laugh out of it by having Theon clubbed by his own men. Total rubbish. They did the whole set up of Roose Bolton's bastard and his men being near Winterfell and then didn't even do it properly, and though it was good to see the aftermath the lack of any explanation was a bit of a nonsense rolleyes.gif

And Bran being told to go north - I'm sure the reason for him going north was something to do with his visions of the three-eyed crow, but I could be wrong shrug.gif

Dany and the House of the Undying. Why did she have none of the prophetic visions?

Arya and Jaqen - quite a nice set up for things further down the line, but Arya should have a fair body count going on by now, which they've reduced to the one accidental killing last season.

The Varys/Ros scene was intriguing ponder.gif

Quite liked the Jon scene at the end, but where the hell's Ghost gone? shrug.gif

The final scene would've been far better if Sam and co had actually been on top of the Fist of the First Men with the Others coming up the hill towards them. Instead, we get a half-arsed cliffhanger which Sam can only survive if they come up with some ludicrous get-out shrug.gif

I'm making it sound worse than it was, and I did enjoy it on some levels, but the niggles just won't go away. It's not so much the changes they're starting to make from the books - some of my favourite scenes this season weren't in the book (like Arya and Tywin's entire relationship) - but with all the storylines going on they could've done with a couple more episodes to smooth it all out. I can't understand why other HBO series get 12 or 13 episodes per season and this doesn't. So I'm kind of hopeful now that A Storm of Swords is going to be split over two seasons, maybe it'll make it seem less rushed ponder.gif

I had to look at the book after it finished cos I thought that bit with the Others was made up, and it was. I was interested to recap on how the book actually ended and it was the revelation that Bran was not actually dead, which obviously they'd cleared up earlier in the series so they couldn't use that.

I was also confused about the Sansa/Littlefinger conversation and surely (book 3 spoiler) >>> that would ruin any element of surprise for the whole 'who is behind the Ser Dontos rescue'? <<<. blink.gif

Ditto on the Robb/Cat talk about getting married - having the discussion lessened the impact of the recklessness of his decision.

I had completely blanked out the whole of Dany's storyline so I had no complaints about that bit of the episode as it doesn't really interest me. laugh.gif

Also yes, Roose Bolton was surely supposed to take over Winterfell, not the Ironborn turning on Theon? blink.gif

It seems that ep 9 of GoT is always the best episode of the series and ep 10 is a bit of anti-climax from that.

It'll be interesting to see if for season 3 & 4 they split book 3 up as per the paperbacks, or move some bits around to make for a more climatic end to season 3?

You can almost guess now what episode 9 of season 3 will be >>> a certain wedding <<< laugh.gif

Yep, that's what I would guess too, otherwise there may not be enough excitement in season 3. wink.gif

I actually preferred this to episode 9. 9 was really good, but I found the big battle a bit tedious after a while... eermm.gif I enjoyed the jumping around in this one as some of the most boring storylines of the year got interesting again (and some didn't, silly Robb). But I find myself caring about Dany again!

I thought Theon was really good, and I loved the bit with Bran, Rickon and maester Luwin - heartbreaking crying.gif

I thought they didn't make Jon's intentions clear enough, unless that was the point ponder.gif

I am sad that Jaqen has morphed into someone much less attractive...

Overall really looking forward to next season.

Has anyone seen this? It's been going round facebook, made me chuckle smile.gif
