NBC is developing an as-yet-untitled semi-scripted comedy—from sitcom veteran Larry Charles (Seinfeld) and McG's Wonderland production company (Supernatural)—that centers on a group of sci-fi fanboys in a small town who shoot their own version of a canceled TV show, Variety reported; Charles will write, executive-produce and direct the project.

Here's a TV miniseries we'd see: Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Stephen King's new sci-fi/horror novel Under the Dome.

Variety reports that Spielberg and King will develop a limited series based on King's just-released book; DreamWorks TV has optioned the book and is looking to set it up as an event series, likely for cable:

Book, which has earned strong reviews as a return to form for the prolific author, revolves around the drama that unfolds after an invisible force field suddenly descends on a small vacation town in Maine. As the locals fight for their survival, the town descends into warring factions led by enigmatic characters.
King and Spielberg will executive-produce, and they're looking for a writer to adapt the book.

This would mark a return to TV for both of these prolific creators: Spielberg's best, in our opinion, was Syfy's Taken, and we've always loved the TV miniseries based on King's books, though they've varied widely in quality; maybe our faves are It and The Stand.

Does anyone else think Under the Dome sounds a lot like the story of the Simpsons movie?

This was pretty much a no-brainer: USA Network has renewed Burn Notice for a fourth season, sources confirm to me exclusively.

A report that BN had been picked up appeared in the trades last July, but a USA insider says the season 4 deal only became official yesterday.

The smash hit is slated to return with the second half of its third season in January. The 16-episode fourth season would likely debut next summer.

The news comes a day after USA picked up Psych for a fifth season.

Although there’s no official confirmation from the network, exec producer Shawn Ryan just announced the news via twitter. “Picked up for a back 9,” he wrote. “Thanks for all the support everyone.”
