Can't get enough Game of Thrones? You're not alone. In fact, some fans were so anxious to see more of George R. R. Martin's Westeros on the big screen that they started their own web series.

Dunk and Egg is a fan-made web series adapted from Martin's 1998 novella The Hedge Knight. Set 100 years before the events of the series A Song of Ice and Fire, it chronicles the adventures of a would-be knight named Duncan and young Aegon Targaryen as they try to establish themselves in the harsh kingdom of Westeros. Martin has written three stories chronicling the adventures of Dunk and Egg so far, with more on the way, and though they aren't part of the Game of Thrones story proper, they are a very clear tie-in set in the same captivating universe and featuring the same dynastic families and locales.

For Dunk and Egg, a group of Los Angeles-based Thrones fans got together to create a labor of love based on Martin's world, and shot numerous scenes on their own dime.

"We want the battle to feel authentic. We want our viewers to be engaged and experience war within the Game of Thrones universe,"creator and Executive Producer Chase Boyajian said. "To do that we are bringing in some real talent from around the gaming and film industries."

Martin releases tantalizing new chapter from next Thrones novel

George R.R. Martin knows how to build anticipation. The acclaimed fantasy author is knee-deep into his hit series A Song of Ice and Fire but is taking his sweet time finishing up the latest book, The Winds of Winter. Luckily, to at least whet our appetite, he's finally released a tantalizing new sample chapter.

Martin's series was already acclaimed in fantasy circles, but skyrocketed to a new level of attention once HBO adapted it into the smash hit TV series Game of Thrones. But Martin hasn't let all the attention put his feet to the fire. He's always worked at his own pace, and doesn't plan on changing anytime soon.

No solid release date has been revealed for Winds of Winter, the sixth book in the proposed seven-volume saga, but many expect it to hit shelves late this year or at some point in 2014.
