first time i saw a full story with tom baker as the doctor who and he is excellent (not to mention his outfit
) and a young sarah jane the story is about the creation of the daleks by davros. the time lord sent the doctor back in time to see if he can stop it or mess with their design to make them a little less indestructible. the doctor end up to have to make the choice between killing davros and destroy the daleks and saved the millions of victims that the daleks killed since their creation or let history go (bit of a paradox there if he had killed davros ) his way (even if he did slow them a bit), the doctor is put in front of a dilema, can he play god? the answer is noThe story is good even if very dark as the 'Kaleds' the humans that the 'Daleks' will evole into are shown as neo nazis look alike and ready to win the war at any cost. 'Davros' the evil Kaled Scientist creator of the Daleks (who seemed to look like a result of his experiment) will do anything for his creations even betray his side. |

Yes, Genesis of the Daleks is a classic (albeit a bit long-winded). Not all the Tom Baker stories were so good (In fact, there's a lot of rubbish in the 'middle years'), but the early ones (with Sarah Jane) and the last three or four are very good indeed.
I love the moment when The Doctor holds up the two wires and wonders if he has the right to kill the Daleks. |
