Identity

The BAU is called to Montana to investigate the case of four kidnapped and murdered women. When another woman disappears, the search leads to a man who apparently has assumed the identity of his dead partner.

Discuss.

Second Mantegna episode is about as good as this first was bad. Altho, there's still his hidden agenda, it was shoved to the back burner while the BAU confronted a para-military organization in wide-open Montana.

"Confront" is the operative word. There's nothing friendly and everything ominous about this portrayal of the group. They don't want to aid the FBI -- which may be accurate based on their typical anti-government stance. As in real-life, they often stew in conspiracy theories. And are often ex-military. However, they aren't necessarily racist -- I guess the writers wanted to pile it on.

Lotsa tension and surprise twists thru out. Nice scenery -- tho, I don't know if they actually filmed in Montana.

Yeah I tend to agree with you on the Joe front... He really is talented and I've always enjoyed his work, I still really like your idea for the way they could have brought him on the show. But that aside this week felt a little more business as usual, which is fine because that's why I watch mostly anyway. I don't expect anything ground breaking I just like trying to figure out who did it. Ya know, so I can do the chicken dance when I'm right!

I like when they don't try to be too clever -- as in the shopping mall mystery. I figured it was going to be one of the aunt/uncle couple in the first minute.

This one didn't try that gimmick. Instead, it focused on BAU training to uncover the new guy's motivations (homosexual longing) and the planning that would get him caught (on the mountaintop).

Nice surprise about the sharpshooter. And I espcially liked the bitter exchange between the sharpshooter and Mantegna's character -- altho most viewers would have known that he was going to shoot.

I think I'll start a thread on spotting the bad guy in whodunnits. :ponder:

Chicken dance?! Better than Hugh Laurie's? ;)

Oh ick, yet another women being tortured episode. :x

Why can`t we see the nice, cuddly Joe we`re so used to seeing rather than the I have a secret agenda and you`ll have to tune in next week for more clues about it ! Joe ?

Other than that, I`d agree this was a better episode than last time.... But I`m thinking that eps from previous seasons were better, in terms of giving the lead actors more character stuff. :ponder:
