You don't have to say much of anything in particular—or be heartening, for that matter. "I visited" or "This site's stupid" would be legitimate signings. smile.gif

Of course, I'd hope you have something nicer to say, but if you don't… Well, that's my problem, isn't it?

Please, drop in; say hello. Give your impressions about the site if you'd like, or a jot about how you found it. Don't be shy.

Have fun! smile.gif

Well, I don't think any of the current members write Harry Potter fanfics. I like the series personally, but I'm just no good at fanfics. We'll probably have some at some point in the future.

Of course, if you write them you can post them, or if you know someone you can just point them our way. *shameless advertising* wink.gif

I think I got here from a member profile in Fictionpress. I bookmarked it, forgot about it, then rediscovered it. happy.gif A site for constructive comments is brilliant. 'It's good, I guess' is usually the extent of what I get on most my scribblings.

One question-- what's ASL? The only thing I can think of is American Sign Language, but that doesn't sound right...

calliope:

What's "ASL"? Well, your guess is better than mine was when laghorses first told me about it. smile.gif

It's requesting "Age, Sex, and Location." I'll clarify that in the regulations.

Welcome to the site!

Nice job!

I think I've seen you (Mysti) and some of your stories at FanFiction.net, (along with this link,) which would be why this forum's name looked so familiar when going through the InvisionFree index of forums. tongue.gif

Your graphics for the site are excellent. A perfect modification of the standard forum-- elegant yet simple. It's considerably easier on the eyes then some of the ones I have run across. blink.gif I also like the idea of a Guest Book thread.

You seem to have a nice amount of activity and balanced critique for everyone. I don't quite understand the reasons behind the critique thread, as I would think it is easier to just give your review in the original thread-- a long story or not. But, to each their own; I'm just used to the other method anyway.

Overall, I would say this is a wonderful site and, when I have more time, I will be seriously looking into it. happy.gif

Wow. That was very nice of you, Miveen. Glad you like the colors and all, considering all the trouble Misti had to go through before she figured out what she was doing *pokes Misti*

The critique thread is just used for longer, multi-part stories so that critique posts don't interrupt the story. It's just to keep things a little neater.

Glad you like the site; hope to see you around sometime! grin2.jpg

[blocks C-Dog's poke]

I apologize for mistakenly believing I had already replied to your gracious compliment—yes, I'm serious.

I am very grateful for your compliment. I did design the buttons to be simply elegant, and C-Dog can tell you how our IM chat went… The "Uh… don't refresh the page…" kinda thing. I figured it out by experimentation. smile.gif

Besides… simply elegant attracts the most people. I'm considering changing the site's colors, but blue is such a universally accepted one… I could do charcoal or olive, I guess, but I don't think pansy would go over very well. smile.gif

Nice to know someone's noticed me on ff.net… rolleyes.gif If you have any idea what my reputation is over there, you'll understand that. It's related to this site's purpose, actually… grin2.jpg

I created a thread to explain why we have the separate critique thread. It's in the "Help" section.

Thanks for the honesty, guester.

If you read this (or if someone of like mind reads this), a "why" is always helpful, for the dislike could be from something that can be altered.

But it isn't required, and I am grateful that you've expressed your sentiment.

Thank you.

i don't like this site at all either. Why would you have to register by clicking the link in the email? This forum only has like 20 members. Once you reach 200, then you do that.

I AM HONESTE, if that's your only reason for not liking this site then why'd you even post it. You said you don't like it at all. What else do you not like?

I AM HONEST, I understand your point. That "I hate this site" was a little more helpful. I don't doubt that your honesty; your choice of username is actually a bit amusing. smile.gif

As for why we have the e-mail validation...

I ask you to consider why they do that when they have a site with 200 members. It's for site and member security.

Why start a simple site security function after you've left yourself open to a lack of security for a year or more? If you don't start a verification method immediately, that means you have non-verified members. If you haven non-verified members, that increases your risk of having a potentially harmful member...&tc.

Is that the only reason you "hate" the site?

It's actually very easy to use, usually showing up immediately in your inbox (and you have a few months to validate before your account's deleted), and it's free and painless for me, which many people have appreciated.

Would you prefer a system where you have to type in one of those validation codes you see in a picture?

I intend to look into the above system eventually, perhaps to replace the e-mail requirement.

(Note: If someone has a problem, such as no working e-mail, I have multiple methods of IM contact available, and/or you can post in the Help section for assistance.)

Hey Misti
It's Promise breaker from Writers Post.
Haven't had much time to look at the site.
Looks kinda neat. One suggestion I have is to put on a darker Background color whatchamidoodle. All of the white is starting to make my eyes feel OLD.
Just a suggestion though.
Other than that it's pretty sweet. I won't be joining though becuse I have a very limited time on the internet and I would be stretched too htin to do both sites justice.
Wow this is a long post sad.gif
Well I may come back I might (evil laugh)
Goodbye.

Thank you for your honesty and that suggestion, Promise breaker, and it will be considered as I go through the process of making the site look pretty...

[sighs]

Sorry, it's just... frustrating. I'm having to teach myself.

Again, thanks for the well-rounded suggestion. smile.gif

A drop in

I stumbled onto your site and I think it looks...neat. Having such a site for up and coming writers could help them from getting discouraged halfway through finishing a book.

Other than that I must admit that I noticed that the buttons labeled "reply," "quote," and so forth look like their missing their edges. It could just be what they look like but I think it would look better if they looked more...complete I guess you would call it. Changing them would help give your site a fresher look.

Anyways, don't stop writing. Keep typing out those stories.

Thank you very much, "A drop in." smile.gif

This is something of an ongoing battle with the buttons and site appearance, but that doesn't mean I'm not grateful for your suggestion! (Gives me something to focus on that doesn't involve the mess of coding I'm currently studying when my school and work schedules permit it.)
