the rulesnumber o1This is an intermediate to advanced role playing site, but we do welcome beginners who are willing to put effort into what they are posting. That means that we do care about grammar and spelling when posting in character. We recommend you put all of your work through a spell checker, and proof read before posting. This makes what you have posted easier to read and understand, not to mention it makes the overall look of the site better. Also, the word count is at least 200 hundred words per post, which works out around 6 lines for two paragraphs. We know that it's not always easy to write out long winded posts, but at least attempt to hit the minimum word count. Remember that the person posting after you needs something to work with. God modding is completely forbidden, and any admins see such behaviour, it will be dealt with immediately.
number o2There is a compulsory application for you to be able to role-play at Craving Darkness. It must be completely filled out, with the secret phrase included. We also do not accept any Mary Sue or Gary Stu characters. All characters must have flaws and not be perfect. Administrators who look at your applications are permitted to reject an application if they believe it is not suitable. Please also remember that this a slightly alternative universe version of the Vampire Diaries series and books. Therefore, a lot of what happened in the show/books simply may not exist here. You are permitted to use elements of the books and series for your character, but they must fit the plot of this forum. If you are having trouble with changing your character to fit this site, ask an admin to help you make adjustments. We do not have a size limit on signatures, but ask you try to keep to the dimensions of 500x200. Avatars are automatically resized to 100x100 on this site.
number o3Activity of members is crucial to any successful role playing site, so please not that when you sign up for Craving Darkness, you are expected to be active at least once a week. That includes replying to threads and the activity check. If you are inactive for over two months, without consulting an Administrator about your absence, you may be deleted. This rule is important for people playing canon characters, as they are expected to set an example to the other members but being active. *the secret phrase is: damon doesn't ship everyone* Also, anyone taking part in the site wide plots must ensure they respond to those threads regulary, to keep the plot going. Remember to post in the absence forum if you are going away. We do not have a character limit on this site. That means, per email address, you can have however many character accounts as you want. We do however ask that all characters you make are kept active. If you make too many characters that you cannot keep active with, the Administrators reserve the right to put a ban on any more character making, or to ask you to delete one of your existing characters.
number o4This site is rated M [Mature] and therefore there is likely to be sex, alcohol, drugs, swearing and violence. If you don't like role-playing on sites like this, then don't sign up here. Remember that even though this is a mature role playing site, that some things are not meant to be role-played out, use your brains when posting about touchy subjects such as rape or murder. If your thread is going to have sex or violence, it may be a good idea to give everyone a warning about that. So putting a something like [AC] or [M] in the topic title should stop anyone getting offended should they read your posts. If an Administrator does stumble upon an incorrectly marked thread, they reserve the right to add the warning themselves. Every member is allowed to fade to black or not participate in threads they don’t want to role play out. Only people over the age of 18 are allowed to participate in adult threads.
number o5Respect other members. We don’t want to hear of any cyber bulling, sexual harassment or overall cruelty to others from anyone on this site. You should all be at the age now where you know right from wrong, and are polite enough to understand other member’s opinions. No one should feel uncomfortable to post or talk in the C-box. We cannot deal with anything that happens off this board, so please be careful with who you give your e-mail or private details to.
