I am happy to say that I have never got my heart broken. I can't say that I haven't broken any hearts though. Didn't mean to but it happens.

I've had my heart broken... twice. The first one was in high school with my first boyfriend. He ended the relationship after a year saying "we weren't compatible." I guess for me, it was not having a real reason to break up that made it hurt so much... I was a wreck for about a week. That boyfriend is now gay... well he's out of the closet. So I guess when he said "compatible" he really meant it! :D

The second time was with the guy I was absolutely in love with. I thought I'd marry him. We dated for three years and around our 3 year anniversary, he started acting all distant, so when I confronted him about it, he said he wasn't sure he loved me anymore. I was not able to keep myself from crying. I'd be at school and I'd break down in the middle of class and cry. I locked myself in my room for a week and watched depressing anime (Fushigi Yuugi... why did i choose to watch this of all animes???) and when i went around my family I pretended nothing was wrong, that was until a week later my sister saw me getting dressed to go to the mall. She asked "Oh, you going on a date with Tom tonight?" and that turned on the tears again... I broke down in front of my mom and sister and cried all night. The jerk wanted to stay friends so he'd call me up for coffee and me like an idiot said "yes" and then that would start tears again. After 3 months, he begged me to take him back b/c he said he missed me. Of course I said yes... but after we started dating again, I couldn't see why I was so stuck on being with him in the first place and then I broke up with him after 3 months of dating.

I haven't fallen in love since him, but I wouldn't let my bad mistake keep me from falling in love again. I truly miss that feeling of desperately wanting to be with someone and thinking of spending the rest of my life with that person!

Sorry for blabbing out my love story folks... I tend to get on a role when I discuss these things!!! :D

Idon't intend to enter a relationship until my dreams have been conquered... I think being in a relationship might hinder that.

Also, I don't believe that its love unless you actually do end up staying with a person for the rest of your life. If you can't do that, its not really love, its attraction.

So what are these big dreams Kurai? World Domination???

I must say you make an excellent point on the matter of love versus attraction. although I must say i'd rather say "infatuation" rather than attraction. I think attraction is what starts a relationship, but it's the infatuation that keeps it going. In retrospect, I might have been infatuated with the guy I dated for over 3 years. But when he talks to you of marriage and kids, you tend to put more hopes in love than infatuation and I think that's when the hurt comes... especially when you've made yourself so vulnerable to hope for something more like a future together... Because you work so hard to get to that ultimate goal.

And also, I don't know if you can even say "love is something that lasts forever." If anything, friendship will last forever and the only way a true relationship can last is if that friendship is strong enough to withstand time. You can love all you want, but if that bond isn't there, you have nothing. My parents have been together for over 25 years and although they fight all the time and don't really show affection for each other, the marriage works because they are friends above all and its those bonds that keep them together despite all the fights and setbacks!

I had intended to say infatuation, in fact, that is the word I use when trying to make my points on the several other forums where this type of discussion comes up. In any case, I can honestly say that there is love there for those friends I know would take a bullet for me. More of a brotherly love, but a sense of love nonetheless. I wonder if females ever have the kinship males have with friends like that. I have never heard a female say "I got your back" in any situation. *shrug*

Well I can honestly say I've never been really close to girls. I've got 4 really good girl friends that I would do anything for. I love them more than my real sisters. And I have lots of guy friends, so I've never had to say "I've got your back". I wouldn't be much in a fight among guys... :D

But for true romantic love, that's something many won't experience...

Are you the guy that suffers from "you're such a nice guy, but I'm not into you like that?"

Honestly, if a guy's an idiot, that's a deal breaker for me... I need someone to hold a conversation with! :nods:
