When criticizing a blend, it's important to look at several factors that comprise it. Here are several categories that break down the overall score into various parts. As a Reviewer, please comment on each part, provide a numerical score and then add up the total. Naturally, not all blends can be subject to the same criteria, so feel free to tweak the form below so that the review you give is critical, honest, and helpful.
Picture Choice - 20 points: Are the pictures diverse and interesting? If only one/two pictures are used, are they used effectively? Are the pictures of good quality?
Text - 15 points: Does the font match the style of the blend? Is it anti-aliased? Is it placed in a non-obstructive manner? If the blend is textless, do you think text would've made it better?
Color - 25 points: Is the coloring vibrant and diverse? If it is black and white, do you think that making it black and white was a good decision? If the blend is one color (like purple) is that good or bad? Does the coloring make the blend look natural and sophisticated or does it make it look flat/boring? Is the blend much too dark or too bright?
Brushwork/Texturing - 10 points: Did the artist use cliched brushes uniquely? (Cliched brushes would be like, the obligatory x's, flowers, etc.) Do the textures make the blend too busy? If the blend is almost brushless/textureless, do you think it would have been better with some texturing?
Technique - 15 points: Does the artist demonstrate good technique in blending, using textures, brushwork, etc? Are the edges of pictures apparent and bits of the subject matter erased away sloppily? Did the artist oversharpen the pictures or over-smartblur them?
Overall Artistry - 15 points: Since this is art, is this blend artistic? Artistry is subjective, but is disregarding the criteria above, is this blend artistic even though it's black and white, textless, and smart-blurred within an inch of it's life?
Bonus - Creativity - 10 points: Does this artist use some popular cliched techniques but gives them a new spin? Have they cropped the pictures in a way that is different and refreshing? Give them some creativity points here!
Finally, give some helpful hints that the the artist may want to consider. If it's a new technique that they might not be familiar with, write a tutorial and post in the tutorial forum! If you know of a site that explains 'blah' technique very well, post the URL here.
And remember, be honest and critical, but not rude.
