The capitol city of the demonic world.
Hundreds of years ago, before King Herlum banned emotional attachment between demons, this city was the center of demonic family. Family and community centers, schools, parks and playgrounds, market places and family owned businesses thrived in the biggest city in Gehenna. As the law passed and the next generation started to step forward, a generation trained not to feel emotion, these businesses and organizations were quickly put to rest. In their place came training centers for the future occupations of non-soldier demons, research facilities and factories.
Since, the capitol city has become the center and leader of demonic advancements in medicine, weapons, technology and quality of life. The greatest minds in research, doctors, scientists and engineers the race has ever seen live and work inside this city, serving their king to the best of their abilities. It is because of the advancements made in the past hundred years by these demons that the demonic race has become as technologically advanced as it has, though many still cling to old traditions.
In the center of this city sits the King’s Palace. Built hundreds of years ago, this extravagant building was created from the finest stone and metal the demonic kingdom had to offer. Now, surrounded by incredibly modern buildings that cover the demonic races largest city, it looks like some sort of shadow of the past. Maintained with the careful hands of those who wish to not destroy the integrity of its history, the palace proper will never be changed. However, several rooms have been added onto the back of the palace which hold to the demons new technological achievements. It seems, no matter how far the demon race advances, they will never stop respecting and clinging to the past.
Cyprosaia
image by; I-NetGraFX of DeviantartCryprosaia is the largest and most prestigious military training camp in Gehenna. This camp serves as a first stop for all future demonic soldiers. Here they are tested both physically and mentally in a variety of ways before it is decided what program and what camps they are accepted into. Acceptance into any of Cryprosaia’s programs is considered a high honor, for this camp has turned out some of the best soldiers the demonic race has ever seen.
Those who are accepted into the Cryprosaia Training Camp are put through what is considered the most difficult and intense training programs ever hosted by the demonic army. If the demons can survive the months or years they spend in Cryprosaia they are not only guaranteed to do well in their military carrier, but are up for first selection by the most renowned military leaders in the demonic army looking for soldiers, captains, demons to go on special assignments and even second in commands.
Cryprosaia hosts a variety of training programs, from basic foot soliders, intelligence officers, trackers and what is called ‘future leaders’. This latter program lasts nearly a decade and puts the demon through every type of training Cryprosaia has to offer. Including but not limited to weapons, hand-to-hand combat, tactical training, linguistics, survival and military leadership.
It is said that demons that train at Cryprosaia either die in training or learn how to dominate the battlefield.
Egarctica
The Gates of Hell
image by; Poly-Morph of DeviantartThe Gate of Egarctica, named for the valley in which it is located, is the only gate between the human world and Gehenna that has been reopened. In the Demonic tongue, Egarctica means “Valley of Fire” but many humans have referred to this part of the demonic world as “The Gates of Hell.”
On the Gehenna side of the gate, a vast red valley of stone and clay stretches for miles. This is one of the most inhospitable places in the demonic world and one of the only that living humans eyes have seen. It is because of this valley that many humans view the whole of the demonic world as the hell they have always imagined. Scorching temperatures reaching in excess of 115 degrees on a daily basis, no water or plant life for miles and no wildlife. This valley is used for some of the most difficult survival training high-level demonic soldiers are put through. On either side of this valley are great stone mountains that are prone to land slides, making the edge of the valley, where the only shade and escape from the heat is, even more dangerous.
The human side of this gate is located in the deserts of Africa, near Egypt. The land surrounding this gate, as so much of the human land that has been taken over by the demonic race, is set in ruins. What were once cities have become a pile of ruble overrun by lesser demons. Tents are pitched for miles on end, where soldiers sleep and rest between missions from their commanders. Any human that makes it into the demonic land alive is most likely a prisoner, they are put to work doing manual labor, used in experiments ands tortured at the pleasure of some of the more evil of the demonic race.
This gate is rather small, but the plague that has flowed through it is huge. Humans know well to avoid this gate at all risk, for the amount of demons that surround it are thought impossible to defeat.
Lahorins
image by; Xyrga of DeviantartLahorins is the largest prison in Gehenna. It’s also the prison with the largest reputation. Known for it’s stern, unbreakable walls, low record of escapes, and the short amount of time prisoners here tend to continue living, this prison is a place of great fear for all demons, despite their emotional suppression. The prisoners of Lahorins have a small, cold, stone cell to look forward to at night, and a variety of torture, experiments, and interrogation by day. Many of these prisoners are used to teach professional interrogators how to perform their art.
Many prisoners of Lahorins are demons who have committed any sort of crime ranging from petty theft to treason. However, there are a select number of prisoners of war living within these walls. Mostly Angelics who were caught after a battle, these prisoners of war tend to live slightly longer lives than the average prisoner of Lahorins. Not because of better treatment, but because the keepers of this prison put a little extra effort in their medical care. Rather than allowing a prisoner to lie in his freezing cell and die of his wounds after an interrogation or experiment, they will be taken to the medical ward and treated. This may sound kind, but it provides a longer period of time for the keepers to… play.
Recently, human prisoners have begun appearing within the Lahorins walls. These prisoners often come from captures near the Gates, or raids on cities in the human world.
Ereos
Forgotten for hundreds of years and only rediscovered by a small party of soldiers fifty years ago, Ereos is the remains of an ancient demonic temple. Most demons do not know what this ruin was created for or what purpose it once served, most of the writing on the wall is in such an ancient version of the language that only those trained in the ancient ways can understand it. Unfortunately, even those fail to grasp the truth of what these ruins once were, for many of the letters and words have been eroded from hundreds of years of exposure to the natural forces of nature.
Even after its rediscovery, very few demons actually know that this temple exists. The demons who discovered it, not understanding the true importance of this ruin to demonic history, decided it was not worth reporting. Nothing but an old building no one remembered and no one was interested it.
It sits on the edge of a long cliff, overlooking a valley where one of the few Angelic/Demonic battles took place in Gehenna. In the valley below sits a demonic tomb where the bodies of the fallen Angelic soldiers were placed after the battle. This was partly an old form of respect for their enemy, but mostly a way to ensure these angels never rose from the dead, as was once rumored angelic soldiers were prone to do. Whether or not this is true… Well, you would have to be an angelic soldier to be sure.
