If not then Hellsing was maybe the first anime I watched from the beginning. Also I still have not seen more than 3 eps of dragonball, 1/2 episodes of naruto and none of sailormoon. I consider myself lucky.

When I still a child, sometimes I only watched one episode of an anime and then stop, so it's hard for me to remember the titles. The first anime series I watched may be Sailor Moon. The koala bear had a sister who had a compact that could transport them from the human world to the koala world, which kinda looked like outer space. The old-school (70's/80's) mecha stuff, like Voltes V, I just watched. All I knew was, there was fighting, and these five-man teams had to combine their ships into a robot or something. Complete with music. Which may be why I had no questions about the transformation music in Sailormoon.

It was a movie, but I don't remember which one. Sucks, doesn't it? I know they aired Venus Wars, but I don't think that was it. I guess I could look it up if I really tried. I just saw a lot of anime features in a really short period of time.
