Canobie 2013

Canobie is expected to be getting something new soon. What does everybody think they will be adding to the park.
I am expecting a replacement for the matterhorn, a new addition in the bear plaza, 2 train operation on cannonball, renovations on corkscrew and hopefully starblaster and season passes.

It would also be nice to see them add mist sprayer areas in the park like water country sfne and story land.

They are called Splash pads!

If they paint corkscrew this year I doubt we will see anything else done with it.

I do expect the cannonball overhaul. ACE has their conference in New England next year and there will be a few hundred ACErs visiting Canobie during the event.

I would lie to see:
* a Real sit down restaurant in bear plaza to house the Roast beef and an expanded menu,
* The Bear lodge finished
* A new flat in Matterhorn previous spot either a new Matterhorn of a Polyp
* An upgraded family coaster to replace dragon coaster.

Sorry for getting a little off topic, but why was the Matterhorn removed again? (I was 8 I don't remember)

The coaster had experienced some damage to do wear. The rehab costs were very high and it was decided to not rehab it. The original plans for the entrance also called for it to be turned more and guests would walk around the carousel.

I predict that the park will buy a new matterhorn and start exspansion in the back of untamed.

Because they sadly are happy with there coaster line up and water line up, they just got a big coaster and they need new flats and space.

A new Matterhorn dose seem hi on their list. I would however like to see then get something a bit more flashy. SFNE is adding a Sky Screamer (Tower swing). so a thrill ride would over shadow hat addition. Not sure if a Matterhorn would have the same competitive edge.

I do wan tot see more around Untamed It would be good to have more reason for people to walk round the coaster and off the main midways.

They could possibly do both. If you think about it, the park added three new flats all together in 2001 Ocean trip, DaVincie's Dream and Over The Rainbow

I wonder if it is possible for the park to get a flashy ride and a matterhorn in one season.

Davinci's Dream wasn't added till 2003.

Ocean trip and Over the rainbow were likely around 600K

A new Matterhorn is int eh 750K range. The Zamperla hawk is likely 750-1.2 million. I want to see then get the 2 arm for busy days.

so getting bought woudl be in the 2 million range. wouldn't leave much room for other park improvements.

A hawk would be great addition like i mentioned on this fourm and a few others a while back. If they did these two for next year they would probally have to cut back on the shows and improvements. But they have been having amazing buisness lately so it could get better.

Yes they probably could afford to invest 2 million in flats. Especially after taking a year off.

I think the hawk would compete with the Sky Screamer by itself. Matterhorn is also a bit more thrilling. so if they added a second a family addition may be more appropriate.

It wold also leave a little money for a capital improvement or 2.

problem with that is that the Zamperla Hawk is a horrible ride. I like the type of ride just not Zamperla's version. Uncomfortable seats, bad restraints and too many mechanical issues.

Maybe something like a Zierer Suspended Flying Carpet. I personally liked the Time Warp at SFNE but unfortunately Vekoma doesn't build them anymore.

The park needs a flat that goes upside down. A flying carpet is already at six flags and that wouldn't compete with sky screamer. A hawk is not a bad ride. It would definatley run sky screamer up for its money. People wanna go upside down canobie!!

Has Zierer Built more then one Inverted Flying Carpet? It's different enough that I think it would make a solid addition. I do think the park needs an invertign flat. It is really the only type of ride they don't have

Ya Vekoma has stopped making their model. Moser has a model available as dose Intamin and Fabri.

I suggested the zamperal model because it was very well reviewed on trip reports on review sites.

I am hoping to see the trains on the corkscrew renovated like they said.

I don't expect an renovation beyond repainting. out with the black and red and in with colors that fit the new paint scheme a bit more.

Six Flags got approval for their Giant tower swing ride. Canobie really needs to step up their game with an addition if they plan to compete.

But with the new star flyer canobie really cant drop the ball. Inverting flats!

Yes, I think it's woudl be more important this year over any future year. it really is one of the only styles of rids they do not have. and it woudl be highly marketable. something to market as well as Untamed to counter SFNE.

Alabama adventure just closed. It would be cool if canobie bought their huss enterprise. It is a great ride and it would fit perfectly.

It is a great ride. getting it to fit though is hard. not a lot of location that have that big of a plot available.

In between the wheel and flume photos.

There are 2 problem her.e one the enterprise was snot at the park at the end of it's life. there was a round up on the same plot. secondly the spot between the Ferris wheel and photos would barely fit the ride. there would be no place to put a queue line.

you basically need a 60 X60 box for a smaller model, the larger huss models need even more.

After Untamed has dumbed down, I'd like to see a Boomerang. It's not too far-fetched. After all, it takes up not a lot of space, and it's not that much taller than Canobie's Height Restrictions. Either that, or a Wild Mouse.

Haha I wouldn't. That just makes the park worse. And it is far past canobie's height limit restriction. Although it is a nice space since it doesn't take up to much, I just think canobie knows better not to do that. Flash Back at SFNE is going to be gone in a few years and I doubt canobie will be knocking on their door for it.

A wild mouse.. eh. Why that? Funtown and SFNE (two of the four large parks in new england) already have that. That isn't going to stick canobie out from everyone else. It isn't unique.

I don't know, I guess it would be pretty cool.

with lake compounce, Six flags new england and great escape having boomerangs already, just like i said about the wild mouse it wouldn't be unique.

I agree with Canobie#1 on this one. Boomerang is too tall and even if it wasn't isn't unique. Unless a wild mouse was themed heavily/indoor at canobie it would not be unique either. I personally am not a fan of wild mouse coasters anyways, there is too much jerking left and right.

A boomerang is way too tall for Canobie. In fact it's 42 ft above the height limit. also like pointed out the coaster is common. so is a wild mouse. so the additions would do very little for the park.

Any new coasters really need to be unique to the region. Canobie is never going to be a coaster park and will not have a lot of coasters. so they need to make the coaster they get count.

^ I did already point out that it is common. But they do need to make their next coaster count for the park.
Prowler at world's of fun is a prime example of what they should get for a wooden roller coaster.
