I am no longer working Sunday nights, so I decided to make a Sunday visit to the park and I sure picked a good day to do it! No crowds at all, no long lines on any of the rides and the best parking space, right outside the front entrance! Highlights.....
Saw one of my high school classmates there with his daughter. Haven't seen or heard from him in years (he's not on Facebook).
GNATS! May Flies! Everywhere!!
The Blue Heron was closed, despite the perfect afternoon weather, and Zero Gravity was down for maintenance. It was there that I finally met KPMcMan, who was working on the ride.
Rides rode--the Dodgem (4 times, including one with my classmate), the Carousel, Over The Rainbow, the Canobie Express (from DaVinci's to Skee Ball), the Tiki Maze (thrice), the Crazy Cups (twice), the Caterpillar, the Antique Cars, the Boston Harbor Patrol and the Mine Of Lost Souls.
Played Deal Or No Deal, Soccer Fortune and Wheel Of Fortune, racked up over 300 points, combine that with the 400 I won last week I now have over 700 points. I am bound and determined to just keep letting them add up and up and up and get something really nice with them.
Food consumed--Mug Root Beer (Kayem's Diner), slice of cheese pizza and fries (Trellis), vanilla/chocolate swirl with chocolate jimmies (IFP) and a few hours later, for the first time in years I actually had some fried dough. Trying to eat it as neatly as I can--not possible! That powdered sugar gets everywhere!
Finally got to see Tyler the Fun Czar, who led the Fun Squad in their Follow The Lead-Ah dance and Molly Mouse's Happy Birthday song on the Midway Stage (which looks terrific, by the way). I got to chat with Tyler, who is only there Sundays and Thursdays this year while he focuses on his other job.
I forgot to mention last week, the basketball section near MOLS and Tall Timber Splash is all gone. In regard to the arcade building by the lake (which had a construction fence around it), I asked one of the staff what that was about and he said he thought (not confirmed) that the Jackpot Casino might be moved there and a catering kitchen where it currently stands. Again, nothing confirmed.
Again, it was a slow day with no crowds (I refuse to say "the park was dead", that sounds so negative

), so I spent a good amount of my visit just walking around and taking in the serene splendor of the sights and sounds of the park, and I must say it was very nice to stand by the Blue Heron dock area and enjoy the scenery without those arcade noises just a few feet away.
Side note: The Granite State Zoo (the folks who bring us Wildlife Encounters) has officially changed their name to
The W.I.L.D. Center & Zoological Park Of New England. Their show returns May 18, daily except Mondays. Here is their official website:
http://www.wildcenterne.org/Said my goodbyes to park staff and saw Molly the Mouse and Bruno the Bear share a slow dance.

Awwwwww! Left the park just prior to the 6PM closing time, no gridlocks at all! 2 passes down, 19 to go!
