I wanted to get in this report before the weekend and now while my last visit is still somewhat fresh in my mind. Jenny, feel free to add anything I may have forgotten.....
I got there just before 4PM and got a decent spot in the front row by the log flume area. A huge line of people who like myself got their passes in advance. Mad Jenny Morgan is in one of the ticket purchase lines. Actually enter the park at about 4:10. Highlights:
A note is posted at the entrance stating that Terrify The Sky is cancelled due to predicted wind conditions. I have a feeling we won't be seeing it ever again, not after last time they had it (read my 17th TR for details). I guess it looked good on paper.
Rides: Over The Rainbow, Tiki Maze, Crazy Cups, Carousel and the Canobie Express (with Jenny). We were hoping to get a view of Head Hunters at Cannibal Lake since the train passes behind Castaway Island but to no avail.
Food: Mug Root Beer for $1.08 in my ScreeemFest blood mug with Chicken Cordon Bleu Bites, German Fries and a salty pretzel.
6PM Madonna show--my cousin Tanner from Worcester is there with his dad and others, they sit with me and watch the show. I can't say enough how great Melissa Totten is as Madonna. She does for Madonna what Eddie Moss does for MJ. Dancer Mia Velez points and winks to me many times during the dance numbers.
Talk with production staffers and park owner Ray Captell, who presents me with four complimentary ScreeemFest passes, two of which I give to Jenny (who is all out of passes). Ray thanks me for all my kind comments on Facebook about the park and its shows and for being such a loyal guest.
Stand by the control panel during the 7PM Mini-KISS show, Mia joins me and Jenny saying that she has yet to see the show in its entirety. We're all jumping up and down and dancing to the music. This show is a huge hit with the crowd. One of my friends from Shaw's in Wakefield is there too. Mia is such a sweetheart.
Pay $10 to play Mug Slide, I get it on the 4th try and win a glass mug. No chicken hats or trip to Germany this year folks. One of the Xerox technicians at my job is there cheering me on.
8PM Monster Parade led by Tyler the Fun Czar and with marketing manager Chris Nicoli driving one of the hearses and Colin from
Imagination Generation and
MystiQue as one of the Merriment clowns driving one of the cars. Wednesday and Puggsley Addams were quite prominent at the park this evening.
Off to Jackpot Casino where I impress Jenny as I drop quarter after quarter in the Wheel Of Fortune machine. It's working but no sound effects. I get the wheel to spin and hit the 500 mark. Tickets run out and Meghan the attendant refills it. With no sound I didn't notice that it spun again for 60 tickets. All in all I win over 1,300. Jenny takes pictures of the tickets piling up and then being fed into the ticket eater. Head for Skee Ball and win 2 CLP back scratchers, 4 standing mirrors (one of which I give to Jenny) and a fish-thing (one of those gift-shop figurines you place on your fireplace mantle). Nothing else in this price range looked very appealing.
10PM Madonna, I cannot get enough of this show! Late start due to Mini-KISS meet and greet taking a little longer. The Cheney sisters are there (CLP show groupies like me and Jenny, one of them runs a fan page on FB for Tim Hair). My favorite parts are
Music/Disco Inferno,
Vogue (especially Mia and Miki's gowns) and
Like A Prayer. Jenny and I then stand by the Yankee Cannonball entrance and watch the crowds go by as closing time draws near, you know, just taking in the whole atmosphere. Dancers Miki, David and Cedric walk by and I say hello and chant "Oh Miki, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, HEY MIKI! HEY MIKI!", she gets a kick out of that.
We head towards the exit, taking our sweet time as the crowds file out and waiting for the traffic gridlock to die down. One by one the ride lights go out. The Xtreme Frisbee area is very dark, I walk down that way out of curiosity to see if it would be anything like that bad dream I had several years ago (thankfully it wasn't).
I finally exit the park at around 11:40PM, yawning all the way home (I got only 4 hours sleep after work). Played Bloodrock's
D.O.A. on my car's CD player to stay in the Halloween spirit.
Looking forward to this Saturday, my record-tying 19th visit! I'll be meeting my big brother Bob and hopefully other family members there and the return of "Ozzy". His is the one autograph I need to complete my book!
