This thread is to acknowledge famous people that have recently passed away, rather than create new threads for each one (i.e., Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, etc.) which over time would just fill up the General Talk section. I'll begin this thread with the recent passing of legendary newsman Walter Cronkite, who died last night after a long illness. He was 92. Called the most trusted man in America as anchorman of the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981, and affectionately called "Uncle Walter", he reported on many top stories including the Cuban missile crisis, the assasinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., the Vietnam war, the Apollo moon landing (which marks its 40th anniversary this Monday) and Watergate. He ended each newscast with "And that's the way it was." Full story from USA TODAY
