I wanted to post this sooner, but have been having problems with my Internet connection (which those of you on Facebook probably are aware of from my recent posts). Anyhoo, here's my trip report for my first trip of 2012.
The park was REALLY quiet. I love quiet days, but think the park may have been a little TOO quiet. Nearly every ride was a walk-on. At times there was a very short line at the Yankee Cannonball - couldn't have been more than a 5 minute wait (or maybe 10 minutes tops). Some rides had very few people.
Rides went on:
Crazy Cups (5x - first ride with a repeat, 2nd ride with 2 repeats)
Psycho-Drome (2x)
Dragon Coaster (there were only 3 of us on it!)
Canobie 500
Twist & Shout (2x)
Wave Blaster (2x)
Antique Cars
Caterpillar
Over the Rainbow
Mine of Lost Souls (2x - even mid-day there was hardly a line!)
Antique Carousel (2x - second time had the carousel all to myself, which was a bit awkward)
Blue Heron
Canobie Express (2x)
Sky Ride
Dodgems
It felt nice to be able to go on ALL of the rides I like to go on - that doesn't often happen on a busy day!
Food:
1 slice of cheese pizza & a bottle of water (Pizza Ria)
vanilla soft serve ice cream in a cup (Lumber Jack Ice Cream)
When I went on the Blue Heron, the ride op who was steering the boat asked a young boy, "How many pirates do you think we'll see?" If he knew me at all, I would've said, "You've got one right here!"
The new lighting on Psycho-Drome is strobe lighting - so a word of caution to any of you out there who might be really sensitive to strobe lights. They did not shut the lights off during the ride.
In MoLS, the guy who blows himself up had no lighting. The Hollander boys room was very dark, and the skeleton on the wall was glowing really good. While I was waiting in the short line the 2nd time I went on, the ride op saw (on the video monitor) that some kids were standing up in the car & touching everything. She almost called security to have them kicked out of the park, but said she didn't feel like being that mean. (There was only an hour left in the day anyway, so it probably wouldn't have mattered.) When their car came out the exit, she confronted them about it & told them they were NOT allowed back on the ride.
The first time I went on Twist & Shout, my car kept spinning really fast in the same direction - counter clockwise, just like what happened to Steve! At first I wondered if they had rigged the cars!
The support poles for Sky Ride have been painted like white birch trees to match the nature theme in the Untamed area.
I hope I didn't forget anything! It was a really wonderful Canobie day! (Although it felt strange not running into JustPlainSteve!)
