Can we do something about the people on this board who can't spell for beans? Cause I have trouble reading what those people type cause I've grown up reading things where the spelling is correct, and every other word isn't misspelled.

If the people you are talking about are long time members that are very active and offer a lot to the group then I, my self over look such things. If I can not read something they say I skip over it as there are so many awesome things on this site. If I am interested in something such as person is saying but am having a hard time reading what they typed I will just add a message in a nice way asking them to explain about what they were saying or private message them saying " I really liked what you said but could not understand it all can you explain more?.
People that are very active on the group tend to be quite friendly and love to talk.
-Dana

P.s. An internal spell check on the board would be nice but so would Season passes at Canobie and a hug from your favorte movie star every time you walk into the park(I know at least one of those things will not happen) LOL happy45.gif

I have no trouble reading what people post here. I don't see all the spelling errors that evryone talks/complains about. Most likely because I'm a terrible speller. biggrin.gif

^ and i would indeed love a hug from Elizebeth Hurley everytime I walked into Canobie. wub.gif

I really don't mind the spelling at all. Like you said, if you go back and read over the post slowly everything will make sense.

I don't think spelling really matters at all. I mean, this isn't school!

And I agree with everyone else, if you can't understand, ask.

Like I had said read it though slowly the message will come out. Maybe he types fast, he has allot of information and knows his stuff. It's a pleasure to talk rides and parks with different people on this forum, bad spellers and all Lord knows I'm not perfect.

Maybe you should look around a bit more. I have a new browser and it has the Google spell checker. I try to remember to run it but even it isn't perfect.

Maybe I only feel like reading posts that interest me. Someone said this isn't school, and they're right. So I shouldn't have to read things I don't want to read.

The issue of spelling and grammar came up again recently. I believe that the feeling was that Canobie Lake Park deserves a better message board where people show respect by taking the time to proofread before posting.

I'd be happy to more strictly enforce these things if people want. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

To be honest, I know i am the one. But it is just from my fast typing. I am sorry and I will go a little slower at it.

I think it really isn't a big deal in my opinion. This online forum group is great just because it isn't strict. I hate ones like theme park review that hit you with a ban or warning if you forget to capitalize or accidentally misspell a word. Ben, there isn't a lot of frequent members on here that post everyday. I don't think it has been an issue for all of the years canobie fan has already had and I don't think it will in the future either.

I agree that the spelling isn't an issue. I sometimes forget to use my spellcheck and make typos. 99% of the time, the message is clear and you can easily figure out what the person is trying to say

"Strictness" has nothing to do with this situation. Being "strict" on a forum would mean moderating the topics and perhaps language. The issue here is that this is a FORUM. A place for people to speak and comment on a certain topic. This is accomplished by using the English language (in this forum, anyway) which is made up of grammar, punctuation, and spelling. You completely defy the entire point of a forum when your posts are unreadable. It completely wastes the time of the readers and makes the entire population of users look stupid.

Never mind the fact that you should really learn how to better communicate. How exactly do you plan on going through life with absolutely no communication skills? If I saw an e-mail come across my desk with that kind of "I don't have spell check" mentality, I'd fire you immediately.

^Spelling isn't that much of an issue. If I can read what somebody's saying, then it's perfectly OK to spell a couple of words wrong.

You are the only one complaining on this site about this. If you wanna yell at everyone who miss spells on this site, you will have all of us banned. You are hardly on this site and you barely even post so just get over it.

Ben, I think i'm speaking for every member that uses this site often. Don't change anything on this site. It is great as it is.

Clearly I'm the only one complaining see as that this thread began in 2006.

Why does it matter how much time I spend on this site? Do you have to be a registered and active member in order to read these posts? If so, by all means, block all content unless you are registered, sign in, and post actively.

I wonder how many people come to these forums, never registering, never commenting, due to the amateur commentary that takes place.

Funny how your last post was almost perfect (aside from the need for a few commas), did you happen to proof read this time?

I really don't care about spelling and grammar on a forum site. And clearly the people who were complaining in 2006, don't even come on the site anymore. Which just leaves you. Nobody but you is complaining.

All the active members on this site really could care less. And if you are really complaining about not adding commas on a forum site, I feel bad for you.

hey canobie #1 isn't it couldn't care less? cool.gif Seriously, out of the 4 or so forums I belong to, only two really care about spelling. The Civil War Reenactors Forum and the Leatherneck (Marine Corps) Forum. The Marine one is obvious why and the reenactors one often sends mass letters typed up on the forum to officials and groups that threaten historic civil war spots. Since we are neither a Government focused forum, nor are we petitioning things, I don't really believe spelling should be that big of a deal. As I said, the point gets across 99% of the time. I believe you are greatly exagerating how poor some of the spelling and just want to have an argument over nothing. Just let it go, we are a fan forum and if people didn't join because of spelling then we probibly didn't want them. (Also, if the spelling offends you so much, why did you sign up)

I think "Could Care Less" is the right way. "Couldn't Care Less" sounds like a double-negative.....if you couldn't care less, then it sounds like you are saying that you could care more. Like in a double-negative ("I didn't do nothing wrong!"), if you didn't do nothing wrong, then it sounds like you did do something wrong. That's the Algebra logic where two negatives make a positive. Didn't mean to nit-pick, just throwing in my two cents. I could be wrong.

I never complain about the spelling because it would just incite an argument and if it goes too far, one of the admins will nip it in the bud by closing the thread. I've seen it happen here. I rarely misspell any words unless it's a hard word like Qadafy (the terrorist leader whom no one can spell correctly). laugh.gif

Then there is the Dance Hall Theater at CLP--everyone else spells it "Dancehall" (all one word), but I go by what the sign above the venue's entrance reads, Dance Hall Theater.

OK, I'll quit now. laugh.gif

I knew you would. See trainwreck didn't search the whole message for that error. You are the only one that is doing this and when I see you doing this, it proves you have nothing better to i do. I feel bad.

You should just stop because it's making you look like a fool. Leave all of us alone.
