My 4th weekend in a row and my 2nd Sunday visit this year. Now that I no longer work Sunday 3rd shift that frees me up to do this. Again, it was just too nice a day not to go!
As I get on 93 North there is a conga line of classic cars, I felt like I was on
Wacky Races
I get there at 10:40AM, parked directly in front of the main entrance!!!!!!!!!!
Greeted by the adorable Molly Mouse as I enter.
All rides are operational and Castaway Island is being set up (the yellow T-shirted crew was on site). Minuteman Fried Clams is now open for business. Untamed is playing that epic-John-Williams-type orchestral music again. Sounds a lot like
Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire.
Rode all of my usual rides
except Twist & Shout, Caterpillar, Antique Cars and Boston Harbor Patrol. Got 2 Blue Heron rides and 5 times on Dodgem, my 2nd favorite ride. I made that ride more fun wearing my driving gloves (like the ones Ryan Gosling wore in that movie where he was the driver) and I got a lot of compliments on it by other drivers. I was high-fiving other drivers too. That ride is so much fun.
Food consumed at the Trellis: slice of cheese pizza, fries and Mug Root Beer (from Kayem's Diner) then fried dough for dessert, which I took with me to the Midway Stage area.
Wildlife Encounters has already started, Derek was hosting the show and I only saw the end of it with the python, a tarantula, a bearded dragon and a bat--YES, A BAT!!!!!! I got to chat with Derek a little later after his last show.
The other show is
Extreme Science, which was hosted by David from
Circus Of The Strange (from
Screeemfest 2009 and 2010), I caught the end of it and he and his assistant performed a really cool vortex trick with Rubbermaid trash barrels, using the fog machines to show the vortex rings being shot into the air while the
1812 Overture played on the sound system. If any of you get a chance, see this show!
As was discussed in my last TR, "Terror In The Corn" construction is now underway in the long-vacant field near the Corkscrew and Castaway Island, looks like it will be both a cornfield with real ears of corn growing and a maze for ScreeemFest.
The Fun Squad did their Molly Mouse's Birthday song routine on the Midway Stage and I got to see Tyler the Fun Czar. As I said before, he is only there on Sundays and Thursdays this year.
Made tons of points on Soccer Fortune and a handful on Deal Or No Deal, my combined total for 2012 thus far is nearly 2,500. I'm going to really let it build up this year.
The rest of the time I did a lot of walking around and chatting with staff. I have yet to see owner Ray Captell this year! He was so good to my family and I (and MadJennyMorgan) last fall! Park manager CoryAnn and John from the Blue Heron are Stonehamites like myself.
Left at 6PM. 4 down, 17 to go and I will be there again on Friday!
