B&M's first gigacoaster, Leviathan is opening in May 2012. Here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leviathan_(roller_coaster) Am I the only one who wants to ride this beast? :Ahh:

It is always exciting when another giga coaster debuts. It'll also be interesting to see how B&M plays out in this field. Looking at layouts though, I am dissapointed to see yet another coaster ride that is ended much too short. There is plenty of speed left when this train hits the final break run that several more elements could have beeen added. Oh well, it should be a thrilling coaster anyways.

I am expected that B&M is getting the opportunity to build and design a Giga coaster. Though I'm a bit disappointed it's goign into a park that already has a tall Hyper coaster from B&M. They look practically identical.

As for the layout being so short Unfortunately as you go taller the price skyrockets. so it's not practical to add a longer layout and most parks don;t even have the extra space. 28 million for the layout they have.

if your looking to learn about this and other Cedar Fair Additions you can get that info on my coverage hosted on the Whalom forums.

It is true about the price and I figure that and space are the main reasons. However, if a park is going to go big and get a Giga coaster, why not go all out? What's another $8 million when you're already spending $28M...

8 Million is 4 of the swing towers they installed, 2-3 kiddie lands, 2-5 thrillrides, 8-15 family rides, just to give a few examples.

You also have to figure in how much longer it will take to get 8 million back on your investment. and 8 Million really wouldn't make it that much longer, 500ft or so.

but I have noticed that on every coaster were height and speed are the goal length is never a goal and there is a lot of wasted momentum.

I do understand that that is a lot of money and could buy other rides and be used in other ways. I just think it's a shame that all of that momentum is wasted, I like a coaster that hardly looses speed on the final brake run. But from a business point of view, I suppose saving the money is wisest.

Steel Dragon 2000 is the longest in the world and it has an over 300 ft drop.
