Description: curious

What was everyone's answer. My first coaster was rudy's rapid trainsit at santa's village and it's still my favorite family coaster! It kicks cat women right of the chart and has been a family tradition since my parents started going. Santa's Village is pretty awsome

My first real coaster was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, I remember crying because I didn't want to go on it..

My fist Roller coaster was Firefly at Benson's Wild Animal Farm/New England Playland It's now operates at Santa's Village.

Nah, thats Fantasy Farm and they didn't have a coaster. But I remember when they DID have an Eli Wheel that made me cry and they have a Chance train too!((Or maybe it was an Iron Horse)) (The train was there for a while after the rest of the rides were removed and even until a few years ago you could find left over parts of it!)

Former train things -
here was the station - http://www.coasterwiki.org/pics/whales_tal.../Image00427.jpg
The train left the park itself and went out into the parking lot and pretty much hugged the curve you can kinda make out in the grass here - http://www.coasterwiki.org/pics/whales_tal.../Image00014.jpg
And I think the last time I went this had been paved over, but in but in 2005, you could even see the ties in the parking lot! - http://www.coasterwiki.org/pics/whales_tal.../Image00003.jpg

Also, the street sign is still Fantasy Lane - http://www.coasterwiki.org/pics/whales_tal.../Image00002.jpg

Oh, and to answer the question of this topic - Unknown, I'd have been going to Canobie, Whalom, Yorks, Storyland, and Santas Village all my life... So one of those parks coasters would have been my first. Likely Flyer Comet or Rudy's (at Bensons or Santas Village)

Oh ya the park that re opened with hiking trails. I think it's neat that they still have original things from that park because, whale's tale isn't exactly new. Thank you for the photos james.

Do remember when you were watching bert the conquer go on starblaster? I saw you that day, i have seen your site a lot and when i saw you i was shocked  I went up to you {not even knowing what to say} and i randomly said: "wow your really ubsesed with this park" haha. I actually did end up on the side of bert going on the ride. I could touch him on the shoulder if i wanted. But that was when i wanted to join haha.

Mine was the Zephyr at the former Crescent Park in Riverside, RI. I rode it during its last two years of operation: 1960 and 1961. It was a great freeform coaster with diving horseshoe turns. It was installed in 1928 by Harry Baker but most of it was destroyed by the Great Hurricane of 1938, so Ed Leis of National Amusement Devices rebuilt and reprofiled it for the 1939 season. It took some serious hits from hurricanes in 1954 and 1961; the later storm forced the park to throw in the towel and close it after the 1961 season. I was age six and seven when I rode it but tall enough for its NAD Century Flyer trains heightline. The park used the closed coaster's wood to build other attractions, and a member of as Bowen family told me he salvaged some track as replacement stock for Whalom's coaster. Crescent Park operated until 1978. Below is a link to a postcard of the Zephyr which carried the Comet name until its last few years of operation. I recall they had painted the ride, renamed it and re-styled the station, expecting it was going to be around a lot longer than 1961.

No, Benson's Wild Animal Farm/ New England playworld was in Hudson, NH. at it's peak it had more animals then the stone and Franklin park zoos combined and a large ride selection. The property is now owned by the city and has been reopened as a city park.

I do rember the news that they opened the land with hiking trails and actualy restored the large red shoe. Thats really cool. Not a lot of towns would do that :) Ya but that was what i was taking about so nobody got mixxed up SRRY

smartcanobiekid - September 20, 2011 05:53 PM (GMT)
My first roller coaster was the Dragon at Canobie! Back when I was too short to ride even the Galaxi.

canobie#1 - September 22, 2011 08:46 PM (GMT)
haha its too bad the galixi is gone. :(

smartcanobiekid - September 22, 2011 10:26 PM (GMT)
It was a good ride and I do miss it but, Canobie does need to keep up to date and is usually wise when removing rides. I am just glad that it was replaced by something good (frisbee) and several years later they got a new/better coaster (untamed).

canobie#1 - October 4, 2011 11:31 PM (GMT)
True, but at least we still have an awsome one up the road still in maine B)

mrceagle - October 5, 2011 02:57 AM (GMT)
Yup went form having like 4 or 5 Galaxy coaster in NE to only 1.

Canobie still is missing a coaster in that range. Untamed is higher then it and Dragon is far below it.

canobie#1 - October 6, 2011 12:16 AM (GMT)
That is true. But untamed needed to come first. the park was lacking WAY too much thrill. They still are but not on the coaster side of it

mrceagle - October 6, 2011 01:26 PM (GMT)
I agree Untamed needed to come first. just stating that there is a gap i there coaster line up.

canobie#1 - October 7, 2011 02:05 AM (GMT)
That is very true. Hopefully something like vapor trail

canobie#1 - October 12, 2011 10:44 PM (GMT)
Or even the flying unicorns at islands of adventure
:D

mrceagle - October 13, 2011 01:54 AM (GMT)
Those are both Vekoma Rollerskater and yes right on par with what I'm talking a bout. Mack also has an upper end family coaster that has an amazing layout.
