Why why why why WHY!?!? THE SUN WHEEL WAS COOL!

smartcanobiekid - February 24, 2011 07:46 PM (GMT)
The sun wheel was pretty outdated and old looking...I bet the LED lights will look nice, not as nice as Canobie's though of course.

Spinning Cars man, Spinning Cars... T_T

mrceagle - February 24, 2011 10:41 PM (GMT)
The spinning cars always freaked me out a little. The 2 things spinning cars and Ferris wheels didn't seem like they should be together.

The new wheel is a Chance Morgan wheel. at 70ft I believe it is slightly smaller then the Sun wheel. this might be a tactical move to open up more usable space.

Oh the cars spun? Man, I never rode it, only looked at it and thought, "It's just a normal ferris wheel, no need to waste my time on that." That is a bit scary of a thought, but fear is what most draws me to rides in the first place.

It's pretty typical for Palace Playland to do this kind of thing. They've gotten rid of so many rides within the last 10-15 years, you can't even count.

The PTC antique carousel
The Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel
Rotor
Himalaya
Old tilt-a-whirl
Liquid Lightning Water Slide
Yo-Yo
Terminator
Bumper Boats
Old Dodgems (much better than the new ones)
Paratrooper
And many more

I don't know why they do this kind of thing...I personally think they're going bankrupt so they're selling rides for cheaper replacements to stay in business.

The Antique carousel was removed more the 15 years ago. Many of the rides you listed have seen a new model of the same ride. A new Matterhorn and Tilt were brought in. They upgraded form a carnival Yo Yo to a more impressive Flying swing ride.

So not sure what your getting at.

They have only 7 acres. that doesn't really leave room for expansion so ride need to come out to make room for more rides.

As for your final comment it makes no sense. if your going bankrupt you don't sell and replace rides. you site on what you have or sell them so you have less to maintain. What times I have been there they have been very busy. what makes you think they are goign bankrupt.

Thrillride93 - March 3, 2011 01:41 AM (GMT)
The new addition is a chance century wheel. Also the only ride that I dont get why it was removed was the terminator.

mrceagle - March 3, 2011 12:42 PM (GMT)
It was a aging ride. If my last trip was any indication the ridership was dwindling as well.

Thrillride93 - March 3, 2011 10:26 PM (GMT)
Thats a good point. I wonder if theyll ever replace it with anything.

mrceagle - March 4, 2011 03:14 AM (GMT)
They are always bringing in new rides. But it would depend on what direction they plan to move the park.

I know they moved the tower to that spot.

Thrillride93 - March 5, 2011 02:48 PM (GMT)
O ok i always thought the tower was at the next spot over. They do have a little room in that area to maybe put a really skinny ride.

mrceagle - March 12, 2011 05:01 PM (GMT)
That or shift things around. they have long history of moving rides to make extra room for the next addition.

Got to love the fireworks going on at the very end to the upper right while they are showing off the lights.

Took a ride to OOB the Century Wheel looked to be a park model actually the space is allot tighter with the new wheel LEDs yes the only other color on the wheel was the tubs. everything else was left aluminum kinda plan. The Fiesta loco (I think I have that right) looks to be a very boring ride. really nothing to it. In the gone but not forgotten list City Jet coaster, Zamprella Old Time Train, Go Gator, Octopus, AH Wet Boats, Fight to Mars Dark Ride.

mrceagle - July 18, 2011 01:49 PM (GMT)
Never realized they had a dark ride. a shame, I really don't care for their fun house.

canobiecrazy - July 18, 2011 09:53 PM (GMT)
Before Flight to Mars (a German ride that was at the World's Fair, then toured the US at various parks before going back to the German fair circuit) there was also a Pretzel. Forgot the name of it though. Something to do with hell or demons or the devil.
