Title: Fiesta Shows Twister
canobiecrazy - November 8, 2008 12:20 PM (GMT)
I was just wondering, since I never went on it at Topsfield(i didnt want to get sick again) How is there orange and blue Temptest ride. It is called the Twister. I would of gone on it but when i was in line they had to clean it. Is it worth 4 tickets? Also, i have never been on one of these rides. What are the forces you feel on it.
Bye the way, i love the artwork on the back panels of the ride.

NO!!!! STAY AWAAYYY!!!! Last year at the Topsfield fair, a lady puked all over me    . This ride hurts anyway. it slams you back and forth, and I have bruises to prove it!!
canobiecrazy - November 8, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
first, YUCK(with the throwing up)
second, what kind of restraint does it have?
Phobia - November 8, 2008 04:34 PM (GMT)
Although I've never ridden it, it doesn't seem like a good ride as nobody is ever crowding it.
industrial kid - November 9, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
I never rode it but, I really never see anyone go near rockwells. To me i thought they just spun while the ride turned thats it.
Thrillride93 - November 9, 2008 01:02 PM (GMT)
Ya the ride is awful and its dirty The only reason they still have it is it only takes about an hour to set up
turkishtwistalltheway - November 9, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
Yea. Theres NOTHING to hold you in besides a mega loose seat belt. If you dont want to flying off, you better hold on tight. I mean it :slap:
kpmcman - November 9, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
what does this ride look Like?
canobiecrazy - November 9, 2008 11:33 PM (GMT)
Too bad. It looked kind of fun. What about Smokey's Greater Shows "Windsong"?

They have repainted it since that photo.
industrial kid - November 10, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
That's rockwells forgot to mention that
but they repainted it?
turkishtwistalltheway - November 10, 2008 12:26 PM (GMT)
Hey industrial kid, I always hear talk of Rockwell, but I never got to go to one of their shows or anything. Where are they situated from? What shows do they put on?
industrial kid - November 10, 2008 04:16 PM (GMT)
There from North Scituate, RI very very close to me. like 20 or 10 minutes away. a guy who works for them parks rides in his yard down the strete from me.
They do CT,RI mass, main and SC

I thought that that photo was an older photo of Fiesta Shows "Twister", which is currently purple and orange. Also, it has a backdrop of cows, houses and other things like that getting destroyed by a twister.
industrial kid - November 11, 2008 01:24 AM (GMT)
nope it's rockwells. they got it 2 years ago.
canobiecrazy - November 11, 2008 04:21 PM (GMT)
Ive done some research into the past of this ride and here are the results
Fiesta Shows bought this ride somtime in the 1970's
Rethemed it into Break Dance, and colored yellow and black in 1980's
Rethemed into Twister in the 1990's, and colored orange and purple after the sucess of the 1995 movie "Twister".
Currently Twister, orange and purple, and in need of a retheming and repair.
Thrillride93 - November 11, 2008 04:34 PM (GMT)
Your research is kind of wrong. They did buy it in the 70's and it was just called tempest with no scenary until the mid 80's where it was named the break dance In the mid 90's it stayed the same color but was named the twister. In 2002 it was changed to its current paint scheme. I did a lot of research on that ride a few months ago thats how i no
canobiecrazy - November 11, 2008 04:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks for telling me that. I like it when i am corrected. It definatley has a interestng history. I just sort of guessed with the retheming that they colored it orange and purple because of how old and dirty it looks
industrial kid - November 11, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)

Really because there was a tempest at the barnstable fair with rockwell in 2004
Also do you have any pictures of rockwell from the 90's thanks
industrial kid - November 11, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
I do have pictures of them in the 90's before they were big. I just need a scanner mine broke.
Also as for the tempest they redid the whole ride 2 years ago. but, as far as I know they had recently got the tempest. I know amron helps rockwell at barnstable so maybe you saw theres.

Sounds like a great ride list. Just a few questions
1.What is Spinner?
2.Where was this?
3.Is Mini Enterprise the helicoper thing or the thrill ride?

carnyman - November 24, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
hey industrial , just some info , thewild wind idea same from richardsons amusemensts, who had a wild wind tempest, with backwall, as well as a chance twister that traveled with rockwell in the 90s to early 2000, was a great piece
AGS - November 27, 2008 01:16 PM (GMT)
Here is some more Info. on Richardson's Wild Wind. Did you know that it was the "First rethemed" Tempest here in New England ? They had a gentleman, by the name(if I'm correct) Laggasse, from Haverhill do it up for them. Then, Fiesta, Rockwell, and Fanelli had there's rethemed with the backwall as well. When the Richardson's had both pieces out on the road for the first time, they were with: Bourget Amusements. They had out: Wild Wind(Tempest), Chance Twister, Patti's French Fries/Onion Ring Trailer, Speed Pitch ball game, novelties, and a High Striker(s).(3 diff. sizes on one trailer) P.S. - several years back when the Twister was on the road, they had a second Twister. "Yes" you read right, a second Twister. It was in a junkyard in Haverhill,MA - and was used only for parts.
AGS - November 30, 2008 02:13 PM (GMT)
For those of you who are interested, I just added a photo in my Webshots of what their"Twister"(repainted Tempest) looked like. The photo was taken at: Topsfield, MA Fair in 1996. The photo is located here at:
http://community.webshots.com/user/ags2262 in the Fiesta Shows album. It is the last photo in the album.

Oh man! I found a photo of a swinging gym on your gallery -
http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/...054884438VxjEco - I've only ever seen one, once. And I chickened out after having read SOOO many "horror stories" on them. I really wanted to try it.. But fear of hurting myself made me skip it.
(I was in Germany... had I been in the States I would have been OK with hurting myself ;) )

Are all Grover Watkins Temptest rides that painful, or just this one?
