Can't have a family event that day. Sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. Started working last Friday and have been swamped. I need to try to send you some things. Do you or Scot have Adobe Page maker/indesign? I made a Tri fold Flyer for the New Whalom park. Might help get more people involved.
SoulessCorpse - December 13, 2006 04:10 PM (GMT)
Course i do, Mike are we ever going to meet? lol
mrceagle - December 14, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
I'll send you the the pmd for the Flyer then. It's a bit of wishful thinking. mentioning a Trolley and Train ride along with newer rides. But it gets the point across.
I mentioned to Scott The way thing are going the two of you Coming to Nashua Might be easier then me coming out there. That was you can come to were I work or i can get away for a couple hours.
jj16 - December 16, 2006 04:25 AM (GMT)

i wish you all the best of luck in rebuilding, and would gladly help in any redesign themeing and possibly volunteer some time to help with projects. i did have an idea, what if we got a bunch of volunteers to build a near clone of flyer comet, i bet if you contacted groups like ace and things we could get plenty of help to do a project like that.
i can do some reserch and find some land up here in maine, where you would be father from six flags and a small park would be able to servive with out much compition. if you built a little ways away from both funtown and pp you could do well and stay with the small park charm.

NEW WEBSITE
The
'New Whalom Park Ownership Program ' has launched a brand new website to inform the public and build support for our plan to secure a suitable site in central Massaschusetts on which to plan, build, and manage a new amusement park modeled after the best of Whalom Park.
The New Whalom Park Ownership Program > >
http://whalompark.blogspot.com The website was launched on December 29, 2006. Many of the items discussed at the December meeting are included.
WE NEED YOU HELP!
We are looking for
more contributions to the
Whalom Memories section of the website. This mainly includes photos of the park when it was in operation, and any personal anecdotes or stories you'd like to share, including TRIBUTES about the park.
Our plan is to build the
BEST GALLERY of online Whalom Memorabilia which represents the passion and enthusiasm that Whalom park goers have. The following link explains how the material will be handled:
Photo SubmissionsI'm sure some of the CanobieFans have some excellent material to share!
FINALLY, if you have any suggestions for the new website,
let me know! I have worked closely with Scott Lanciani since before the December meeting to set this up. We want this to be a tremendous success! SPREAD THE WORD and GET INVOLVED IN ANY WAY YOU CAN.
Feel free to re-post this information on other amusement related forums. The momentum is gaining rapidly! :Ahh:
Sincerely
Ted Ollikkala

The new site is very good. Looks very professional. Is there a time frame in mind to when the land can be secured?

Leominster's Whalom Park?
By Malinda Govoni
Article Launched: 02/24/2007 10:55:27 AM EST
Fitchburg Sentinel & Enterprise (front page! )
LEOMINSTER -- Members of The Whalom Park Ownership Program in Lunenburg want to build a 15- to 30-acre attraction, and they have their eyes on Leominster.
"We're trying to build a family amusement park," said member Scott A. Lanciani. "We're in the process of looking for property in Leominster."
Whalom Park, which used to be a major attraction in Lunenburg, closed in 2000. Demolition on the park to make way for a residential complex began in October 2006.
Whalom Park Ownership Program members have contacted Lunenburg about the idea, according to Lanciani, but officials never returned any calls. Lanciani said Leominster "stepped up to the plate."
Town officials put him in touch with Scott Amos, Leominster's economic development coordinator. Amos is currently trying to find a spot for a new park.
But, the park's size will makes it hard to find land to accommodate the attraction in the city.
"Basically, I'm going to exhaust all possibilities here," Amos said. "City Hall officials are interested. We would really like to see the business plan."
Mayor Dean Mazzarella said he likes the idea.
"I'd be thrilled to help them out," said Mazzarella, during a phone interview Friday. "Amusement parks, they're somewhat of a dying breed."
Mazzarella said if the park ever gets approved, it should be built on a busy road.
Ward 5 City Councilor Richard Marchand said he would be eager to have the town investigate the possibilty if things move forward.
"If they were interested in coming into the city, I think many of the councilers would be open-minded," he said.
Marchand, also the council president, said he thinks city-owned land on Jungle Road would be ideal.
"Before Whalom Park closed it certainly was part of the recreational structure of family and friends," he said.
But David Rowlands, Ward 1 Councilor, said he is not fond of the idea.
"I don't see a huge benefit to the city," he said. "It's a lot of traffic and noise."
Rowlands said he can't imagine where the park would go without disrupting a neighborhood. He also said that prime land should be used for other businesses.
Amos said developers might be able to obtain a special permit if a new bylaw is passed at a City Councilors meeting on March 12. Amos said the permit would allow developers to build recreational or amusement facilities on industrial property.
"There's a 50-50 chance," Amos said. "It's going to be one of many key decisions that need to be made."
Lanciani said the group will begin to make blueprints for designs and marketing at a 4 p.m. meeting today at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater in Lunenburg.

Still have a long long way to go.
