My question: Does the "57 minutes of memories" include the "35 minutes of unedited video of the park prior to opening"?

Mike.... just checked out the Whalom site, I think I'll take a chance and order the video, but I'm not looking forward to seeing the distruction segment. I enjoyed the photos on the site also. Take note of the carousel shot those are Alan Herchell horsees taking place of the Loof figures that were sold off. :) ....F.M.

Because if so, that wouldn't leave a lot of time left for the documentary.

True Maybe I can convince some one to order it fr me and give it as a Christmas Present. then the Content isn't as important.

Hi Everyone
I was reading the forum and noticed your concern about the new Whalom Park DVD. Paul L'Ecuyer is a friend of mine, so I asked him if he could be more specific about what's on it.
Here's what he said:
"Please let folks know that the main 57 minutes consists of 4 sections; The early years, the entertainment, the rides and games and the closing/destruction...it ends with clips of the park in full operation - (bits of everything) and the final clip is a Fireworks display from a Whalom Fourth of July.
The additional 35 minute footage is the unedited video (some of which I also used in the 57 minutes) but has no edits, It is just the actual video I took before the Park opened on one of it's regular operating days, (probably taken around 9: or 10 AM) with the rides silent etc. As it gets later, you then hear the park sound system (radio) go on and the background music is from the PA. There is also included more scenes of the park at night."
The DVD was released today (Dec 1, 2006) and can be ordered by telephone or by visiting the Drawbridge Puppet Theater. Note the link is already given above.
Hope this information has been of value.

You're most welcome!
When I saw the ad for the Whalom DVD, I knew it was Paul. Then I decided to interview him for an article on my website.
This will give you a good idea of his background with the park and what he does now.

Thanks so much for the article! I certainly gives Whalom fans a much better context for the video and the video's creator. I went ahead and ordered a DVD as well.

An article about the Whalom DVD was just published in the Fitchburg Sentinel & Enterprise, tells more what's on it:
DVD recalls history, excitement of Whalom Park

I watched the DVD last night.
Paul L'Ecuyer certainly conveys his emotions effectively. He focusses on the shows and the characters but that is his story so I think it's appropriate. In his video tape footage, you can see that during his time there in the '80s, the park looks better. Buildings and signs look well-kept and vibrant, and the shows are well-attended. Thank goodness he had the foresight to videotape everything in the park.
Audio/visual:
Fairly amaturish segues with the editor trying to use as many different background colors and font colors as possible. :-) I thought the music was cheap and dated, and was most likely royalty-free downloads, but the credits show that Paul L'Ecuyer provides original music. I'm not sure how much of the soundtrack was his music and how much was the royalty free downloaded stuff. Nonetheless, none of this matters much because of the nostalgic content of a park that was open for 107 years, told by an expert who was there and deeply involved for 9 years.
If you went to Whalom and you remember it fondly, you should buy this DVD.
