Master plan for water park wins approval, September 13, 2006, BY TALIA BUFORD
The $100-million indoor water park and resort proposed by a Nebraska developer for the West Warwick Business Park won unanimous master-plan approval from the Planning Board last night. [...]
Assuming the zoning board acts favorably on that recommendation, the project would go back to the Planning Board for preliminary and final approval. [...]
The resort, dubbed Shipwreck Falls, would include nine water slides, a wave pool, a tubing ride and a lazy river for floating, as well as forts with spray guns, fountains, hoses and water-dumping buckets. An outdoor pool and large deck area would be open during the summer. [...] |
I wasn't able to find the location of the West Warwick Business Park, but here's a
map of the location of a proposed casino that is near the water park site.
Edit: added below:The location appears to be at the
northwest corner of the intersection of I-95 and Route 2.

It would be nice to see a good water park in RI since the water Wiz is a jock. But that price tag seems very high. is the land that expensive.

Here is more information about the proposed
Shipwreck Falls water resort. One of the attractions will be a "Branson, MO meets Chuck-E-Cheese's" family dinner theater. :Ooh:
Here's a recent
ProJo article about the park.
