Hi everybody,
Not much has happened since the last update. We have looked for the Seal Rocks eaglets all over the island and we re pretty sure they are no longer here. Wherever they are, we wish they manage to survive this rough, first year and hope to see them soaring the Catalina skies some day. On Friday, I headed out to the west end hoping to see the triplets, especially K24. After a while of searching, I found both adults fishing on the southern coast of their territory ![]() Here’s a short video too ![]() I also spotted K27, who was perching just feet away from the wide-angle cam and the solar panels ![]() ![]() I watched how K27 took off after Wray and eventually watched K24 follow K01. I wasn’t close enough to see if they were carrying food but even if they didn’t, they are at least getting their parents’ attention! After the chase both parents decided to perch on the opposite side of their territory, facing the mainland ![]() ![]() All three youngsters made an appearance at the nest over the weekend so we haven’t made any recent trips out west since Friday. The island fox population is doing really well this year. I see them everywhere and at all times of the day! ![]() ![]() Pete has been keeping busy distributing NAC benefits, which includes 120 certificates with respective photos, raffle items and island tours among many others! I have been keeping busy getting this place ready for Maria Dominguez, who will start her two-week training today and I think we will start with a trip to visit the triplets at the west end! And as promised, here is a video of our lovely Pimu enjoying her meal! Pimu’s first course, quail! ![]() Second course, fish! ![]() Until next week, Steffani |

Steffai great update. Looks like our fledglings are doing well. Maybe the Seal Rocks eaglets are exploring other islands. I hope they haven't gone to the mainland yet. But, this is a great time for exploration.
Pimu looks good. Maria will be learning from the best. I know you will be a great teacher. You have so much valuable information to impart to her. Have a great week. I look forward to hearing about the triplets nest week. Vickih |
