We are getting a wonderfully cool and gentle rain right now - much needed!! I'm not usually happy for rain, but this year the heat has been relentless. I finally had my windows open last night and could hear the bullfrogs in the pond again, and then hear the sound of raindrops this morning, and feel that cool breeze coming in - ahhh!

I see by the Weather Maps that many have you have cooled down and many of you still portend rainy Friday...but I hope those rains cool you all as well. As you can see by the Cams...sunny day here this morning.

As I posted last evening...early evening turned into THE JACKPOT of wildlife delights. I was hearing the RedTailHawk Fledge all day yesterday...so many flybys and I could not get a photo....but...the Fledge Blessed us with a stopover on the deck rails. I was playing my CD quite loudly...Carman Burana...more powerful when sound is cranked up...I think the Fledge was curious.

RARELY DO THE RED TAILS FACE THE HOUSE...THEY USUALLY STAND WITH THEIR BACK TO THE WINDOWS...BECAUSE THEY ARE WATCHING BELOW FOR PREY.

While we were having dinner outside...these beauties appeared, in this order.

Parent RedTail Perched on a Bush in the Canyon.


Then A Hummer Came For Its Dinner ..Near Our Table.


Finally, After Dinner, As I Was Clearing The Very Last of the Table --I Look Below Us and There is This Handsome Young Buck and He Has 2 Doe Following.

It was such a special evening...I only had the camera handy while we were having dinner outside because I was hoping the Red Tail Hawk fledge would come fllying past..it did not.

I have not heard the RTH Fledge calling at all this morning...I hope it is still nearby. But..the little house finchies are busy busy busy at the watering hole and spa.

I was extremely worried about my friends that lives in Aurora, Colorado. What a HORRIBLE event. I can't help but think a lot of these issues begin at home with training from parents. How does someone go from a normal young person to mass murderer. My friends are OK and were not at the movie theatre.

Karen glad you had a nice evening with all your little wildlife. Wonderful pictures.

I'm heading out to take entries at the fair today and tomorrow. I love seeing all the great things people have the creative minds to create.

Karen - wonderful pictures! I especially liked the young RTH peering in at you - how cute! I have a red-tailed nest somewhere out back and every year I've heard the call of one or more young, and then they fly closer and perch in the trees. A lovely sound to hear, and yes it does remind me of our eaglets

Sandie - I am glad your friends are ok. I did not know anything about it til I checked on the news a little while ago. How terrible, my heart goes out to everyone.

I did not know about this either until I saw Sandie's post and I was confused, so I went to news sources on the internet. OMG! So much Horror and Pain and Suffering! So many of these needed.

A friend of mine just sent me this link. while I was reading the news.. where a person vehemently complained to WB:

For years and years, I rarely go to movies at all anymore, gratuitous "S.."..(you know what I mean) and violence in the movies has been gross and over the top for years. Mentally disturbed peopole eat this stuff up like candy and even Affects the mentally balanced in a very bad way. .IMHO

such a horribly sad day with the news of Colorado..what a blessing we can come here to the nests for respite, even though our hearts are broken for so many people.

Hi Peeps,

Had to come to my happy place, the Eagle Forum Chat with my peeps, after hearing the news about the shooting in Aurora, CO. 12 people killed, and 38 injured. So incredibly sad. Prayers to the families of those killed, and prayers for the injured.

Karen - Great pictures of your critters! Love the face of the hawk!

I looked out just after daylight and saw two of the kit foxes. A while ago, looked out and saw another. They look sooooo small when I am not zoomed in with the camera. I think they have taken residence in one of our barns. DH has the first three for his tools and storage. I have seen them going into #2 and #3. Glad to have them on board - now get those gophers etc.!!

Got to run! Dr. dash for DH (followup) with surgeon.

I tried to find sun and Photo Bucket wouldn't even let me get one
July and August are suppose to be hot and muggy! It's the "dog days" of summer.
We have been having steady rain since last night. Good for the farmers. They
needed it. But it is soooooo COLD! I had to use a blanket last night and CLOSE ALL
MY WINDOWS Too cold for swimming. In the 60's today!
Even my spectrum light bulbs aren't helping
What a HORRENDOUS tragedy in Colorado, in Aurora. Not far from
Lakewood, where my son lived and he had many friends there.
