Nest Watch – Wednesday, July 4, 2012, Hope A-82 Comes Home Today!

PLEASE READ


2012 Nesting Season!

The PH nest of ... K-10/m & K-26/f ... has 1 chick that hatched on April 13th and was banded on June 10th as A-84.

The SC nest of ... A-40/m & A-27/f ... has Twins that hatched on April 8th and April 11th and were banded on June 8th as A-81 & A-82.

The TH nest of ... K-81/m & K-82/f ... had 1 chick that hatched on March 29th. A fox took the eaglet during the early hours of April 20th.

The WE nest of ... K-01/m & Wray/f ... has Triplets that hatched on March 29th, March 30th and April 3rd and were banded on May 25th as K-27 & K-24. The youngest eaglet, #3, was too small to get wingblings so has two leg bands instead and is known as 5Z.

Now there are chicks, it will be interesting to see what kind of prey is brought to the nests.

Please continue to post observations in the usual way ... should you observe a parent switch ... or notice that the adult is not on the nest ... it would be helpful to all of us ... if the time/s could also be noted/posted ... along with whatever-else you observe happening on the nest at that time.

Times of events on a nest are a great help to those of us who video when we are editing the footage.

Remember Dr. Sharpe has indicated in the past, that he also wants us to simply enjoy the experience of watching all the happenings on the nests ... and learn more about these magnificent birds ... through the wonder of the Nest Cams.

Bringing Forward:

After hours of working on the feeds yesterday, it seems, at least for my computers, that the embedded media players don't seem to work with Firefox running on Windows XP. Therefore I've added a second all cams page with only Ustream feeds. It is at http://www.iws.org/interactive_nestchat_allUstream.html. There is also a link above the West End cam on the page with the media player streams.

Metoo on the nest alone, she sits at rock front watching to the peaks. Calling out. K24 is heard off nest.

6.29
K27 is heard in the distance.

7.31
K24 is heard near the wide cam. Metoo looks behind her to the front.

WE 6.42.
Eaglet flies off the middie peak to the right, then returns to land somewhere behind the nest. (I think) Didn't even see it up there. Must be K27. Metoo watches.

6.43
Metoo calls out. K24 replies. Still sounds near the cam.

6.45
Metoo calls out and K27 replies. She sounds much closer

WE 6.47
Metoo turns to face right. She picks at the rock

6.48
She does a PS to the left, then hops and wingers a little on the nest.

6.49
She calls out at the 3, the breaks out into a bigger winging session and ends up on the rock rear facing the cam. She looks over her shoulder behind her

6.50
She hops back down to the 12 and looks over the rim. Then picks in the nest

WE 6.51
More winging to the 2, then she begins to branch with one of her sticks.

6.53
She steps down the 2 a bit and calls out. K27 replies, sounding far away again.

6.54
Metoo returns to the nest., then steps down again. She is almost to the patio

6.55
She returns again and looks down the rear of the nest.

WE 6.57
Metoo returns to the rock rear and calls out and preens

K27 calls out again, sounding much closer. Metoo calls out, then K24 calls from farther away Guess his head was turned

WE 7.22.
The trio's calls become more and more frequent. Calling and replying to one another. Maybe they spotted a parent somewhere in the distance ???

7.26
K27 begins to whine

WE 7.28
Metoo begins to winger on the rock, then stops and calls out. Looked like a parent just flew off the far peak and down to the left behind the large one.

7.29
Metoo hops to the nest center and begins to winger about. She sifts through the nest.

7.31
Metoo grabs a stick from the 4 and places it along the rock.

7.32
Then goes to the 7 with her wings spread, and branches at the edge

WE 7.34.
Metoo pulls loose another branch and chews on it a bit. She holds it in her talon. Maybe it is some kind of nestover attached to it ????

She picks it up and wingers a bit. Yes, looks like an old fish ??? Jerky for breakfast
