Chat - Tuesday, February 21, 2012, Another terrific Tuesday!

It is so eggciting to have now. Although I love watching eagles from all over, there is a special place in my heart for our eagles.

I hope to get to the drug store today. Yesterday was very windy - I sure hope today will be calmer. I always feel when we get this far through winter, spring will not be far away. I am often wrong, but I do feel the worst is behind us now.

George, I am glad you mentioned the monopod yesterday as I had almost forgotten I had one.. I have it ready by the door to try today...will be much easier than the tripod and I can pan with it as well...

Oh Carol, that poor Decorah eagle with snow all over her back... I could hardly tell there was an eagle on the nest... but better this morning...

With everyone going bigger with their camera and lens.. I'm going to go smaller... am looking for a really good 'point and shoot' digital with zoom.. but I want it for purse... and kayaking.. can't take my big camera out in the water all the time.. still gets wet when boats go by ...my little coolpix just doesn't do it for me... Nikon makes one larger that I want to check out.. and the Lumix too...

Yesterday, when the male took off over my head.. with much flapping and noise, I found it 'raining fluff' from his feathers.. lots of down and tiny feathers.. lots of them.. floating all around...

Wow.. 4 in a row for me... will give it a rest for now....

Our incubating Eagles will have a good day too. It is a beautiful sunny day--temps to be almost 70 degrees here , along the coast.

OH CAROLE--That poor Decorah eagle parent. Our Channel Island Eagles really don't know what harsh/frigid incubating is all about.

Our little house finches are busy as always at the watering dish. Interesting .. they still are coming only in pairs, must be their time of the year to stay close to one another, nesting probably is getting closer.

It was so funny, Madam Finch wanted to bathe, but every time Mister finch flew up to a rail slat, she hesitiated. When he came back to the dish, she proceeded to splash and bathe, but, when he flew off, she immediately flew off to join him. I guess the little females want to stay very close to their mates now.

Let me know how that works out for you. I'm just so used to panning and scanning.

Feels like Monday



Yesterday we had the most amazing sunny day - it was a little cold though.

CatM - I'm with you - I'm in the Spring mode, once we have eggs int he nests its not much longer now. . . SPRING is in the Air. We saw many many Robins in Plattsburgh yesterday. Nice to see - they are about 3-4 weeks early. We will be in the 40s this week. The Ice Palace was demolished this morning. However - we do live in the adirondacks, we are due for a major storm - we always get a big one in March. . .

Two setups for two different situations. Having a good compact camera is a must too! $$$$$$
