HAPPY HATCHDAY - CHICK #2
March 28, 2009  An amazing day at the Two Harbors nest as chick #2 comes into the world. Mom removing the eggshell   The whole family .. K81 leans in hoping for a bite.    Long-necked chick #1 gave wee one a few head bops .............................. Off K81 goes to grt more fish for the family   A feeding at sunset   |

TWINS = SIBLING RIVALRY!
March 29, 2009 7:27am - K-82 feeding the chicks from a big fish   K-82 departs at 9:56am.  K-81 around 11:05am   K-82 arrived at 11:22am, and flew away when K-82 didn't move.   Then she came back and flew away again.  K-82 lands for the third time at 11:30am, but K-81 just resettles and begins to preen. K-82 hopped onto the rock, gave him a look, and sailed away again.   |

Gives Dad 'The Look'. ..................   ....................... He takes the hint and moves so that she can start to feed the twins ... then leaves. |

March 29, 2009 3:30 - 3:39 - anxious mama on nest...she seems to need reinforcements or food for the chickies...   time out for a good scratch...    3:55 - 82 still waiting...  8:59, 9 PM - 82 on nest feeding again--she seems to be careful to feed them both...     |

TWINS = SIBLING RIVALRY!
March 29, 2009 K-81 with his two bobble heads. They are both tracking their parent very well this morning. Dad settles down to brood. 6:48 am  Parent switch and feeding @ 7:23 am. K-82 arrives with a gigantic dark fish. She waits for K-81 to leave, then begins to feed the chicks. She picked up the fish and I think because it was still fresh it flopped around in her beak and actually slapped the chicks at one point. Ouch!  K-82 fed both chicks. The older one nipped the smaller one quite strongly at one point, and the little one went into submissive mode. Mom went around to the left side of the nest and the little one perked up again. Then mom decided to brood the chicks.      TH family 5:20 pm   |

March 30, 2009 chicks are being fed by K-82 6:26 am (cam time has not been reset to DST)   raven alert 1:52 pm Eaglets were left alone while mom chased away the intruders. Dad arrived to assist.  "Where did Mom go?" Both little heads and necks stretched and looking about.   |

March 31, 2009 K-81 departs at 8:56am after a fish delivery  1:56pm - One eaglet kept craning its neck to look up at K-81, only to end up falling backward   After K-81 departs at 3:04pm, the eaglets try to follow Mom around the nest     5:45pm - K-81 brings a a big meal, then exits    |
