Good morning all
I was wondering last night how Spirit and Survivor are doing - very curious if hacked eaglets are curious enough to immediately come out of the tower or if they are cautious and work at coming out of the doorway over a period of time. I would think it would be like "branching". With a "bar/branch" provided across the front of the tower, maybe they venture out there from time to time in the beginning to check things out and then finally just take wing! Hmmmmmm sounds like a question to me for Peter .......................... Anyway - now that the door has been opened, I can't wait for tomorrow and the IWS NC Update! Throughout most of yesterday, we were able to hear Gulliver calling for food around the SR nest area. TH - we've seen nothing Some great lift off activity at WE late yesterday - WOW! What will today bring.......................... |

![]() The 2008 Nest Adoption Challenge ended on June 29. Peter will be waiting a few days to give all the "snail" mail a chance to reach Catalina and at that time, he will announce a final total for the NAC ! That total will also determine the number of "prizes" to be distributed to those who participated. Remember, once he begins the drawings and notifications - you will have three days to respond to him if you are lucky enough to be drawn! If you do not respond in the allotted time, the prize will go back into the pool and be redrawn. Good Luck Everyone!(if you have any question you can contact Peter or myself - thanks ) |

1997 - (part III) - If both eagle and satellite tag survive, the biologists will learn how long the bird remains in Canada (after fledging) and whether it returns to its home range for breeding. It is speculated that juvenile bald eagles start by eating carrion along the mouths and inland stretches of big rivers with huge salmon die-offs. Later, they learn how to catch live fish--a necessity before they reach breeding age. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1997/...71002134235.htm ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

Good Morning all from Watkins Glen, NY!!
SR - I hear lots of birds and I see an empty nest. No Gulliver though. WE - Dark as dark can be. How come it's dark there, but light at the SR nest? Hope that cam is not broke after us hearing snakes and snoring people! |

Gentle reminder first thing today, folks. Please keep this thread to observations and discussions about the eagles seen on the cams. * The DAILY CHAT thread (new one started for every day) is the perfect place for discussions of any other subjects, including whether to hold voting. This keeps this thread clear of distractions to those trying to eke out details about what is happening on the cams, which may include the IWS staff. We are their eyes and ears while they are out there doing their biologist and naturalist jobs! * And unless you want only opinions from lay-people and habitual cam-watchers, you may want to post questions in the WHAT ARE YOUR QUESTIONS section. That is where you will get answers from “the pros.” * We love to read about each other! If you want to tell us your life history or how you found the IWS cams and fell in love with our babies and their families, I encourage you to post a bio in the section ALL ABOUT US WHO WATCH under the thread “Are You in the A to Z Yet?” and Pat/Cumbrian will graciously take your info and post it alphabetically under the pinned and locked threads at the top part of that section. * If you have a suggestion about a meet-and-greet or other reunion of A-49 Cruzers, there’s even a section for that! |

Good morning,
AT WE, can't tell what the ladies are doing--looks like somebody may have found some food, and the other wasn't happy about it. But can't really tell. Every time the non-neo camera refreshes, the eaglets are doing something different somewhere else. Brief wingercises from both. Some caps from a few minutes ago: ![]() ![]() |

My WE non-neokast wasn't refreshing properly, but now it's better. One eaglet stands at tthe back, one eaglet is on the front edge at 4 o'clock.
SR - Seals barking and the ocean provide the soundtrack--no peeping. Interference developing. TH - Deeply shadowed and back to being pink. PH is always beautiful, but especially in the morning. ![]() |
