June 10, 2008 Miracle and Surprise were both flatlets early this morning. 8:00 am  just some peaceful WE captures, still not much action there - no ravens yet, and that's a good thing 8:20 to 9:00 am    |

June 10, 2008 Westie/Miracle is eight weeks old today, so I took a few pictures. I was a bit concerned by this one - I can see one eaglet clearly, but the other black blob looks a bit more like the teddy bear the eagles brought to the Delta nest than an eaglet:  Fortunately, after a half hour or so, the blob became an eaglet again:  This picture does suggest that they aren't that different in size any more, and that they're growing into their big beaks and talons:   And here is the typical "trenchcoat in dark alley" look that eaglets seem to go through at about this age:  |

RELENTLESS RAVENS!
June 11, 2008   Mom is there .. No Ravens.................................................... Mom leaves ... Ravens return!     Can see where they seem to be pulling at the eaglets' back feathers.   Dad arrives ... No Ravens!   The Ravens were relentless and kept on returning ... sometimes when the adults were on the nest too! They kept touching the eaglets. It was almost as though they are trying to pluck feathers from the eaglets as trophies! |

RELENTLESS RAVENS!
June 11, 2008 The first of the raven attacks, which went on all day today. The ravens were swooping by constantly and we all felt very sorry for the chicks. You can see the raven right at the nest in picture #7. My favourite is picture #5 - now that's teamwork! 6:35 am           |

RELENTLESS RAVENS!
June 11, 2008 12:24pm and the ravens are at it again...Miracle has been studying martial arts from mom and dad, so s/he's on the forward defense...but Surprise isn't so brazen... K-01 swoops in to fend off the intruders       1:02pm Ravens diving the eaglets again... after a couple (long) minutes, K-01 arrives to defend   Miracle mantling and posturing big time, but Surprise is not so sure about this tactic   Surprise dives for cover under Miracle .......................................... K-01 to the rescue |
