Hey all,
Another hot one here on the island. I found A-49 in the mid-afternoon, perched in a tree approx. 100m from where I last saw him yesterday. One or both adults were within sight of him all afternoon. Before I saw him I had heard quite a few vocalizations from both A-49 and the adults (their vocalizations are quite different), so I knew he was in the area and that he was being carefully watched over. When I did manage to find A-49 one of the adults was perched in a tree about 100m above me and made it pretty clear that I wasn't welcome (constant vocalization), so I snapped a couple quick pictures and moved to a more comfortable distance. I was actually able to get pictures of both A-49 and the adult by just turning my head (and the camera, of course). When I left the area late this afternoon, A-49 had moved to the top of a near by tree. I didn't see any food deliveries again today, but I was only observing for a few hours. Both the adults knew of A-49's location and at least one of them was within sight of him the entire time I was there, so I have no doubt that they're taking great care of him. Sorry I didn't post any pictures form yesterday, but they were all horribly backlit and completely unusable. Todays turned out quite a bit better. Dave ![]() This is where I found A-49 today. It looks like a nice, shady spot. ![]() Here is one of the adults, perched above A-49. I took this picture from the exact spot that I took the first picture of A-49. ![]() One of the adults flying over A-49. They were actually both flying over, being very vocal, but I was a little slow with the camera, so I only caught one of them. |

Thanks Dave!! The pictures are wonderful! You are so lucky to be on the island and witness the interaction between 49 and his parents. And we are soooo lucky to have you out there too!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! When I saw the spectacular photos you took and posted for us, they brought such joy to my heart. It is so reassuring to see A49 and to know that his parents are nearby keeping a close eye on him. Please continue to keep us posted with your updates and photos - it means so much to us!
