Hello nest camera fans! I was out at the nest all day today, keeping a close eye on the chick's activities. For a majority of the day, A-49 was perched on a high branch on the west side of the nest. Every hour or so, the chick would preform several sets of wing flapping exercises. At no point did the chick every leave the nesting tree. At least one parent was in the area at all times, monitoring the chicks fledging progress. It looks healthy and ready to go. Maybe tomorrow will be the day!
-Chris ![]() This picture was taken in the afternoon from ~300 yards away. The nest is to the left of the chick. |

Omigosh, Chris....that photo is MAGNIFICENT!!!! It's so clear now where he is when he goes off cam but we can still see his wing flapping occasionally. He is on top of his world...so majestic...omg...just awesome...I can't take my eyes off it. Thank you SOOOO much for the update. I can see why he's taking his time..that terrain looks pretty rugged.

Chris: Thank you so much for the wonderful photograph showing where our boy goes to when he leaves the nest. We saw his wings every so often, so that must have been him exercising.
He is fearless isn't he, and so eager to fly. Nice to know the parents are watching over him as well as the IWS crew. Thanks again for all that you do and for keeping us updated with A-49's activities. |

Chris, thank you so much for the awesome photo. It will be saved to my favourites for sure. Number 49 looks so beautiful! It's great the way you caught him doing his exercises! I'm glad to know that a parent has been nearby. For new parents they have certainly done a good job of figuring out what to do. Loved the photo! The scenery is gorgeous, too. Thanks again, and please keep the photos coming! I hope you're able to keep an eye on him for awhile longer.

Chris - not to be repetitive, but I concur with all the previous comments. Besides from the fact this photo is absolutely spectacular (I got all choked up when I saw #49 out there), the message it brings is even better. Our boy is nearby, his parents are keeping an eye on him and it brings reassurance to us nest cam watchers - thank you so very much!!

Chris,
Thank you so much for the wonderful photo of our eaglet. The picture you posted gives us such a better perspective of the size of the tree and the layout of the branches he is perching on. We will now have a better idea of where he is when all we see is an occasional flash of a wing. |
