Hey all,
A-49 was still in the nest tree late this evening. He spent most of the afternoon perched in a branch just to the right of the nest (unfortunately outside the camera view). One of our crew was out there all day today, and will be again tomorrow, as we've been expecting him to fledge for the past few days. We'll try to get some pictures of him in his first perch spot off the nest and post them here on the forum. We'll also be keeping very close track of him during his first few days off the nest, so we'll do our best to keep you all up-to-date. Throughout the coming months you'll be able to keep track of him on the IWS website (www.iws.org), where Dr. Sharpe will be posting maps of his movements on the 'Track an Eagle' page. Thanks so much for letting us all know what's happening up in that tree. It feels so good to know you guys are out there and watching and able to give us updates. BTW.....where are the parents during all of this wandering around?

I also would like to add my heartfelt thanks to the IWS crew for keeping us posted on "our" little fledgling and for their incredible patience with non-professionals like myself.
 I've seen this concern a few places, but since #49 is out of camera view, so are the parents. Have the parents been spotted near the nest? Are they still feeding him? Again, thanks to all of you! |

Hi there, is it possible for your crew member on the ground, hopefully taking the photographs
 to advise us if the parents are communicating with A-49 whilst he is on his new perch off camera?When he was on the nest, his body language alerted us to the parent coming in with food/visit etc. I just wondered if junior was given a signal from the parent to get back onto the nest so that a food drop could be made. That is also assuming that the new branch he is on will not be large or strong enough for him to feed or be fed on. Thank you for your time and all the great work you are all doing. |
